    Honda VTR1000 Friestorm - 2006?

    Hi all,

A recent browse at the local bike shop had me drooling over a 2005 VTR1000, going for a (relatively) cheap $12500ish. After my initial oh-oh-oh-I-want-it-now reaction I started to reflect on how the bike hasn't really changed much since it's launch in 97(?), and how a whole pile of honda 2006 models have been released but I haven't seen a new 'storm

Any one have the low-down or even wild-speculation on what's in store for the Firestorm over the next year or two?

    Mucho Grande,
    SK2

just have a look at the huge changes to the 06 'bird and VFR, and you'll see where the VTR is going....

There's no 2006 model Firestorm in the US, and I suspect Honda are going to discontinue it, if they haven't already. I doubt that there will be a replacement either.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

    There's your 06 Firestorm, folks!

The RC51 (SP2) looks pretty damn good, I must say

Broadband power and torque. Incredibly stable, razor-sharp cornering. There's only one sportbike in the Honda line with this combination of race-honed performance and handling: the stellar RC51™
Sooo . . . what are they saying about the CBR1000RR then? And unless they have done some major changes over the '02 model I rode a month or two back, then it aint all that and a bag of 'tattie chips . . .

Also unchanged for a few years is the VTR1000SP2. You could find a used one for not to much more than that firestorm, plus it's much cooler.

There was a thread recently about the VTR v VFR. If you do a search for 'VTR1000' you will find it. It may help you decide on what to buy.

Ummm, no, that site only enforces the view that there is no '06 'Storm!! Have another look, the link you posted is an '05, go to the interceptor (VFR800) and it lists an '05 and '06, but no '06 Superchicken.....

The 05 is the same as the 03-04 however in the US there was a black bike with gold wheels released... thats all folks, as for 06 duno, more of the same I'd say

since the series 1 in 97... the bike changed to the series 2 in 01.... big changes mate, same body work tho, changes were fuel tank, dash, suspension, colours, indercators, bar hight and angle and a few other things.
    cheers DD

My bad, I can't read. I was certain it said '06... Oh well.

Is it just me, or does the new CBR1000RR look worse than the current?
