I had no idea how to control it and promptly rode the bike into the pool in the back yard.
Couldnt get the bastard back out again, had to wait for help to arrive and took 4 of us to lift it out of the pool from the inside, unfortunately there wasnt another 4 to grab it from the outside of the pool so dropped it again! then had to explain to brother how bike had got mud and grass everywhere and now wouldnt go. Dad never found out how the pool had all the grass and a small oil slick in it.
Brother never let me ride again.... go figure!

I figure you even after seeing what he has done to your Savage!

The local bike shop had DT125s going dirt v.cheap. So I went and bought one. When I arrived home on the new toy I took the back way to my house, up a private gravel lane that led to my garage. Garage door opened - I intentionally cut a corner in order to ride over a small tree stump. I deftly popped the front wheel up (about 3 inches) to mount the stump, then I tweaked the throttle to move the bike forward and to get the back wheel onto the stump. So far so good. Then I twisted the throttle again and the back wheel spun out from under the bike, resulting in both man and machine falling slo- mo style. Bugger.

I sold it 3 months later and made around £200 ($500ish). Which was nice.

The moral to the story - If you're going to make a complete tit of yourself make sure there's no-one around to take the pi$$. Then think up a good excuse for the bent brake lever, smashed front hindecator and scratched clutch cover - like being chased by the feds for 20 miles accross miles n miles of dense woodland, in the pitch black, and it was raining. And I got my knee down.

    Few very silly things...

First proper bin - lowsided it just getting too low on an intersection on abbots way in Remuera, on closer inspection it was covered (densely) in oil drops from vehicles, and had 'give way' painted nicely in the middle of it. Duuuuh.
Thing(s) learnt: Assumed that if I had done that corner faster before then this speed would be no problem - nope check the corner every time.

Overtaking a two trailer truck on the downhill section of the corro loop after the scenic lookout, on a blind corner with no idea what so ever if a car was coming. Thing(s) learnt: If you can't see clearly around the corner, don't do it no matter what.. just in case you value your life and other road users.

Various rediculous lanesplitting at stupid speeds on the southern between Greenlane and Papakura. Worst was probably the '160+ in the rain between two cars with a large tramping backpack and a raincoat in high winds'.
Thing(s) learnt: Make sure the vehicles won't try and crush you, ensure that you can actually fit, ensure that you are doing it with a reasonable level of safety, value your life and consider what others would think if you were killed. And finally, you are not ghost rider... no matter how hard you try.

P.s. always check the kill switch/side stand before embarrasing yourself.

hmm... all my dumb stuff happened when I got the bike, so that will be my excuse. Basically bought the bike damaged, rego on hold, no warrant, so had no idea what anything was supposed to be...

    1. Sidestand. Yep, couldn't figure out why the bloody revs kept dying, until when cleaning saw the bloody cable

    2. Kawasaki safety (not sure if other bikes have it): can't get any other gear, except first, until on the move. I thought the bike was broken... (feature is good tho) so my first ride meant going on the driveway all nervous and managed to find second at the top...

    3. Other than that, classic learner mistake of front brake in corner... twice
