MOST are pretty biker friendly BUT on this site you're bound to hear of any are are NOT biker friendly from the people that had the unfortunate experience of meeting them. (normally backed up by a loud chorus from the raa-raa crew that put in their 2 cents worth everytime.)

NZ cops are good, but there are some jocks in that industry like any profession.

Agreed.I'm one of the one's that seems to attract the arseholes of the profession, but I've met a few good 'uns amoungst 'em too.
I really think company policy has had a largely negative effect on the way they behave and the sort of people the profession now attracts.
Scumdog, you gotta remember that some of us grew up in the days when you'd get sprung for acting up(within reason of course) and the boys would just give you a kick up the rear and send you home.It doesn't seem to happen anymore.

In 30yrs of driving/riding and being pulled over, Ive only come across one right bastard. What a prick he was. 99% of N.Z coppers are good as gold.

They're bred in clone vats and all of them look like Temuera Morrison.

They have a "Rhetorical Copper Questions" chip inserted at about 5 years of age, and are trained at a facilty that is painted baby poo yellow.

NAh, like everyone says they're pretty good. I got stopped at 5 checkpoints on the way back from dropping my brother-in-law at the airport, all between 4am and 5am. By the time I hit the last one I was a bit tetchy, but the bloke who stopped me at the last one sensed my grumpiness immediately and engaged a charm offensive. It was impressively done.

And of course after receiving your warning you saw the error of your ways and never did it again....

But whay exactly attracts people to join the police force?

I've got a lot of respect for our boys (and girls) in blue, it's a job I would definately not want to do myself. I've met more than a few myself, and the vast majority are really nice people.

However, I've never taken the time to ask any about their professional motivation, perhaps we all should? I would imagine they these guys get great personal satisfaction from helping people, and making our society a safer place.

But in any society there will always be a small percentage of the population that gain a sadistic pleasure from controlling and bullying others. A controversial theory perhaps, but maybe these rat-bags are attracted to police work, and can be found in noticably higher proportions among the police force than in the population in general?

Compared to UK cops - in general, they're pretty cool Wil. Providing that he's not having a bad moustache day (seriously dude - you've never seen so many 70s porn star moustachos in your life), you're polite, and haven't been a complete pleb, there is a chance you'll get off with a warning.

I was polite and I was only a bit over the limit, still got the ticket though

All the cops I've come across have been nice people. Haven't met an aggressive/dickhead type one yet and hope I don't

    Most are fairly cool.

But there are the minority that give the rest a bad name for the rest. Also if your dumb enough to give them attitude, then expect to recieve it back...
Those who insist on perfect safety, don't have the balls to live in the real world.
