SIMSON M/C

Browsing the web I came across a pic of a Simson. What on earth is that I wondered? Googled it and found out it is a German company. There must be a few of these obscure makers around that most of us don't hear about.
Note the single sided swing arm!
Anyone know of anymore obscure manufacturers?

took this in a vintage train and automotive museum on the outskirts of moose jaw, SASK, canada. there was also a couple of older harleys [pre knuckleheads!!!] an indian with sidecar and also an indian frame with a harley engine.

Hah, on closer inspection, I think you're right. Well spotted. Point is it's an obscure brand I'd not heard of.

Believe it or not , there ARE other brands of motorcycles besides Hooonda,Kamakazi,Yamadunga & Suckzuki

Here is a couple of oddball bikes, the Gilera brand is fairly well known but the model is pretty obscure, maybe should be the single swingarm post because its single front & rear. The Guedon is a 2.6lt french V8, just plain ugly i think!
and the last one is the Hunwick Hallam from across the ditch (oz)

i remember my grandfather in bulgaria used to have a simson. it was styled like a gn250, but was a 450 single. he could take the whole thing apart in 30 min usin a sctrewdriver and some pliers. he still reckons it would have beaten the zxr. he would have been lucky if he got 10bhp out of it

Yep - Simson have been around for yonks. Not exactly a big volume outfit, though.

Heres an odd wee bike, a Hercules Rotary
and the rarest bike in the world the 1 remaining (of only 2 made), a 1939 AJS super charged V4 (owned by Sammy Millar,UK) was here in NZ in 1991 at Pukekohe Classics race meet.
