    Yup, heard that before.

Beautiful evening down here last night, so the wife and I jumped onto the bike and went out to Sumner Beach for a pizza. After dinner, we rode down to the beach front, parked the bike up and went for a walk. After a nice 'romantic' stroll down the beach came back to see a group of drunk yoofs not far from my bike. Nothing wrong though, they were keeping their distance. Until that is I chirpped the alarm, cue one drunk yoof swaggering over with a wine cask bladder in his hand.

"Wooow, that bikesh got an alarm, wow, nice bike mate. My fathers got a Ninja, fastest bike in the world"

"Really, is that right?" I answer.

"Yeah, fastest bike in the whole world"

"Everyone's got a Ninja mate." I said, "what is it, ZX10R or 12R?"

"Ooohh, I don't know, but it's the fastest bike in the whole world"

"Yeah, sounds like it is. Have a good night guys.", hoping this would be the end of our conversation.

No it wasn't, he starts making a loud 'two-stroke' noise and tells me to 'rip it up, thrash it up." I politely declined, and rode off.

So I'll add him to my list of people who owns or knows someone who owns a Ninja. They say everyone in NZ knows someone with cancer, shit from my experience you could say this about Ninja's as well.

Yeah, I've heard a lot of pseudo-bikers talk about Ninjas. I guess it comes down to whichever has the coolest sounding name for them. Fireblades get mentioned a lot too, I've found.

    SQ: Is that your bike?
A: Yep, either that or I'm stealing it and just happen to have the keys
SQ:Nice bike mate, what is it?
    A: It's an FZR1000
    SQ: who makes it
    A: Yamaha
    SQ: What year is it?
    A: It's pretty old- it's a 1989
    SQ: What size is it?
    A: 1000cc
SQ: WOW, 1000cc, that's pretty big isn't it?
    A: I s'pose
    SQ: Is it fast?
    A: Fast enough
SQ: How fast does it go?
    A: About 260-270
    SQ: Whats its 0-100 time?
A: Under 3 with the right rider
    SQ: Shiiiiiit! Is that right?
    A: Yep
SQ: Can you pull a big wheelie when you go?
A: Nope, that would be wrong
    Rides away

    SQ= stupid question
    A= Answer

I know you shouldn't be negative about people asking about your bike, but why do the people who ask the questions always seem to doubt your sanity?

Same thing when people find out you go to the gym - what can you bench?
Oh you're a biker? How much did your chopper cost cost you? _ From my mates Grandmother!! I felt like she was asking how much drugs I sold to get it!
There's still a big misconception about bikes and biker out there.
They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the evening,
    we will remember them

I always get "Do you listen to heavy metal?" Just because I ride a bike, wear black leather and have long hair? Are these people still living in the 70's?
Remember to never split an infinitive. The passive voice should never be used. Do not put statements in the negative form. Proofread carefully to see if you words out. And don't start a sentence with a conjugation. (William Safire)

    I answer that with " I don’t know"
I get "Why, too scared? Too fast for ya?, or some other sad Mine Are Bigger Than Yours, type comment...
No, it’s just that the speedo stops at 180 and the bike will go past that in 5th, (only just, but I leave that bit out) its not very fast I know but it is only a 250.
So what can your car do?

This isnt a 'what will it do' story but as a rider of a korean bike I get my fair share of SQ's.

I had just been super market shopping and had run out of room in my pack to store a loaf of bread so I was stuffing it down the front of my jacket (like hankies, girls)...a guy comes out of SM and does a double take.
"What the hell is that?" he asks boldly.
"A loaf of bread" I answer.

He turned out to be a nice guy but just a little forthcoming.
"If life gives you a shit sandwich..." someone please complete this expression

You say A: Sure, why don't I just thrash it up (from cold), risk damaging my bike, risk looking like a twat, and draw loads of unnecessary attention to myself... JUST FOR YOU!
But he was probably just a slightly over-keen wannabe biker... who can blame 'em?

It's just something you remember thats all... sounds cool and all that.

Ask someone what their favourite plane is and they'll probably say an F16 or something, all because they watched Top Gun a couple of times (Indy).

Personally I own a Ninja, and a bright green one at that, so I tend to get people asking about it a lot. My view is that if we could get only a fraction of those people that asks to be interested in bikes, then perhaps they'll notice us when they go to change lanes without indicating or generally stop trying to kill us.

They use F14 Tomcats in Top Gun.... sorry, had to be an anorak....
They did however use F16's in Iron Eagle.....

Back to bikes.... I have a Kawi.... Not a Ninja though...... not sharp or dangerous enough without all those fairing thingamabobs.... I get the 'streetfighter' label thrown around though........

Tha Jandal: Adding another dimension to "rubber side down"

Jandal [jan-duhl] noun: a mythical entity presiding over bikers
Jandal [jan-duhl] verb: "to jandal" is to involuntarily separate from one's boik.
Jandalled [jan-duhlled] past tense - usage: "bro, I've just gone and jandalled it"
