Highly unlikely. Coming from a lifetime of farming experience I looked over my stock at least every 12 hours. The cows are not *always* on the boundary fence. To have a boyracer take out a fence and then have your cows bugger off and not notice would be very unfortuntate. I surpose stranger things have happened but at the end of the day I like the black and white theory. If you own stock then you should be insured. Pay the preimums and let your insurance company pay up. You own an animal - you pay - (or your insurance pays)

Yep. Thats the one. One of the best bikes I have owned. Definitely the most reliable bike I have ever owned. Took a cow to stop it.
It was one of the better things in the end as I managed to trade off the 250 to my current 600 with the insurance money. Good thing really.

    Cheers Sniper for the info.

The neighbour did come over and have a chat at the time but it was to see if my hand was broken (he's a doc) rather than about the cows being out on the road. I'll sort that out soonish though.

Nah - that seems to be said on a regular basis I reckon.

Lou - I was actually just thinking about an hour ago of getting out the .303 if I ever see them on the road again!
Sounds like fun for the local bikers. A ride, a shootup and a BBQ. Bugger and I just got rid of my firearms this week.

    Oi!

I think this one's funnier than the other incident though. Who rides into a herd of cows really? It's a bit like throwing a shoe.

    That sucks

I'd be wanting to sort it out with the cow owner, one way or another

Well we finally got back on the road tonight, but we're both still mongrels at the mo - the Jade's got an empty, taped on instrument panel casing and a pretty mangled light still (and a few other things), and I'm having real issues changing down gears. Changing up's ok cause I don't need to use the clutch but it's really painful and difficult pulling it in to change down. Not fun at all.

I recently ordered some instrument casings for the CB400 and it was around $100 for the set... mate might be buying a few thing direct from Japan if so want me to check out prices?

That would be really cool actually! If the casing also includes the white bits and inner mounts - I dunno. I've managed to glue the outer shell of the casing together but the inner casing bits that the actual dials sit on has exploded into 43 million shards of white plastic. Looks like a lot of work might be coming up!

The only thing is that I really doubt they'd find anything because my bike's a real mongrel to identify and track down bits for. Allthough I guess it's very diff in Japan. It's a 1991 Honda Jade 250, which is a CBF MC23 in theory but even the bike shops down here in Wgtn find it hard to identify bits for it. Shares a lot of Spada and CBR parts though.

But yeah - thanks mate! Only if it's not a huge hassle though - the Jade's a slimy little character to track down.

Thanks Biff - we're back on the road in a pretty much sorted state now!

Zapf - I can't get the number from the frame cause it's the wrong one (stolen in Japan and the original number was ground off and replaced with a new (wrong) number), but it is a MC23 at least. If it really places hard to get then don't worry about it too much.
