    Which Helmet?!

I've bought several cheap helmets over the years around the $200 mark and now I want to buy a really good helmet.

I've been around to quite a few shops trying on heaps of helmets and I'm still buggered if I can decided. I'm stuck on Shoei, Arai, maybe soumo (SP?).

I'll happy to spend around a grand for one as I'll be keeping this for years.

I've also found things like Simpson outlaws and Roof etc which are really cool but I'm stuffed if I can find anyone in NZ who does them so I can atleast try one on before buying.

Any suggestions and or insights to any helmets you own whould be much appreciated.

One thing to consider is that insurance companies depreciate helmets over four or five years. You're supposed to replace them this frequently, so a six year old helmet won't be replaced in an insurance claim.

Not sure if thats an issue or not. I've got an Arai (cost close to 1k) and love it - fits perfect and is comfortable. Try them on, I found Arai's fit *me* better than Shoeis.

PS - more vents = more noise!

My husband has an Arai Condor and loves it, reckons it's the most comfortable helmet he's ever worn.

I've got a Shoei Raid and I feel the same way about that - nice and comfortable and very quiet too.
Yes, I am pedantic about spelling and grammar so get used to it!

Have to agree with the Arai guys, I've had 4 over the years all different styles, all fantastic. I know plenty of folks with shoeis and they are happy. To be honest when you get to buy a helmet in this price range you can't go wrong, go for comfort and specs!

Wear an Arai myself, brilliant fit, light weight, excellent finish, quick release visor. Wind noise is acceptable. Wife wears a Shoei, and she says the same about hers. It comes down to what fits you best, but you won't go wrong with either of these brands.
