Question Any Adv To Twin Exhausts?

Just wondering if any1 out there would know much bout twin exhasuts (cars mostly).

I want to replace my exhaust on an rx-7 (series 8) and instead of going for the masssive three inch monster, creating a Fck load of noise and attention (mostly unwanted), is there any advantage to running a twin exhaust system?

Would splitting a large pipe into two smaller ones close to the engine be the way to go? And would these changes modify the torque and power curves/levels?

Any help would be greately appreciated

There are a few people on this site with rx7's so help should be on its way.

I'd say that it won't really make a difference, but at least you can keep good flow with twin thick pipes while making it quieter than just one big pipe with one silencer/zorst.

Usually better power to be had with a single, but if yer not after every hp then a twin will work.Run 2 the proper tuned length and size, then into 1 for a few inches then back into 2 for the rest.

i would suggest joining then splitting, this would help with backpressure and perhaps act more like a 2into1 than a typical straight through zorst. gotta love s8 rx-7's best looking jappa if you ask me.....but what do i know i ride a honda

You want a single stack straight up out of the bonnet with a flap on top to stop the water getting in - they rattle a bit at idle, but are the best exhaust you could ever put on a rotary....
