But are you telling us that you continued to ride the bike knowing it was spilling out oil all over the roads... and that you also rode down Scenic Drive yesterday with Learner riders following you...
Now what if their bikes slipped on the oil on the road...
That to me is being rather foolish and careless to other riders. IMHO

You knew it was leaking oil... I would have kept the bike off the road until you found out why and where it was coming from.
I managed to stay a bit ahead of the pack yesterday, there was no one following me, except Yohi for a bit and he knew about my bike.

The oil was dripping out - at about a drop every 10 seconds. I had tightened the alternator cover and the oil leak had reduced a lot. 99% of the oil was sprayed onto my boot and left swingarm. Almost a microspray was reaching the road. The learners were more at risk collecting one of the cyclists than slipping in any.

Since you as usual are making your classic assumptions I suggest you know what you are talking about first as it is foolish and careless to go making ridiculous assumptions.IMHO.

I was not making assumptions JSG.... I had read the whole thread...
and even Frosty had made a comment about the oil spitting out everywhere.

I was concerned for all the other riders.. as I would hate to see one of them have an accident... over oil spilling out everywhere...

That was why I made the comment...

But I am glad that you have since got your bike up and running again...
and hopefully you will find out why it was leaking out oil everywhere.

So the cause of the explosion is one of the conrods letting go and poking a hole through the cylinder?

Fu*k, you are sooooo fu*ken luck JSG. Glad you've got that sorted so quick. Huge brownie points to all that helped you, but fu*k JSG that really puts a shiver up my spine and shinks me balls. I'm just so glad we are not go to your funeral.

Hope you have got the temp and pressure gauges sorted out on your bike now, and please don't ride it if she's leaking (bad).

    What spark problem??

I had brand new plugs installed a few days before - it should be on the service invoice.

Keep us informed on the status of the old ZZR - I loved that bike. Hope it treats you well.

take the pistons out of the old engine... hang them up in your gargre/bedroom with a sign saying 'offerings to the gods of motorcycles'...

sounds like you had a good bit of luck dude, cept for the one bad bit that started it all off!

Hmm... well. Good things and bad things. From memory john had a 250A engine and the parts were pretty interchangeable between A and C models.

" Seems like we got ower selvfs a parts engine "

If I ever need anything I'll be in touch
