    Question Civilization

OK. Who here builds civilisations? Those who do will know what I mean...

    Has anybody yet bought Civ4?

Haven't played it for years, but I used to be an addict. What's new in V4?
Remember to never split an infinitive. The passive voice should never be used. Do not put statements in the negative form. Proofread carefully to see if you words out. And don't start a sentence with a conjugation. (William Safire)

Don't start - we'll never hear from you again. I have to work with an addict who hasn't slept since Civ4 came out.

I hope it's better than Civ3. Civ1 was the best game (graphics notwithstanding). Civ3 remedied some of the shortcomings of Civ2, added some of the lost features of Civ1 but became ponderously bloated. It takes way too long to achieve a meaningful result, city performance is tediously slow and the game is unsatisfyingly unplayable at its hardest levels. Not that I would claim to be an addict...

You'll like 4 then, it's possible to play a game on a small map right through in a few hours.

    I think it's too fast.

I started playing on the Commodore 64 and am still going with CivIII. Many hours/ days/ weeks/ years "wasted". Havn't bought Civ4 yet as it will likely be half price in 6 months.

    Reviews sound pretty good.....

Apparently theres several multiplayer modes including play by email. Sounds interesting.

    Because civilisation should be free

And with a compiler you can make it do anything you want.

The pillion is the megalomanic in this relationship, personally I like a good FPS, although had to go cold turkey on Everquest after a while. She says that she didn't like Civ3, prefers Civ2. She is currently destroying Cultures across the room.

Civ4 is SHITE! Don't buy it until they release the inpending patch. 8 out of 10 users are having major issues with the game.

Mate, this free thing is shite. Just been mucking around with it for about an hour. Tedious. I'd ask for a refund if I were you...

    Ah...

    Check out the review

    http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/...ml?sid=6136659

The long and the short is (i've never played any civs) it's better than the rest by a country mile (as opposed to a city mile).

I'd even think about it but apparently sleep deprivation becomes even more of an issue than it is now
