Smile Anyone got an aftermarket exhaust lying around for cbr 600?

Anyone got an aftermarket exhaust lying around for cbr 600? My mates have been hassling me that my bike sounds like a bumble bee.

I don´t feel like I need more power but it would be nice to have more low down torque... maby I am just dreaming.

Yeh I know the feeling Mine is getting one in the next two weeks for about $800 from memory. Just for interests sake, the standard can you have is worth $1100 (would you believe).

To be honest I am not sure, I had up to $1100 to play with but have to keep the cost down. I am hoping for a carbon fibre one but I suspect it will be stainless. I am considering shelling out a little extra if I am limited to a stainless.

You won't get more low down torque from a pipe. Torque is a function of cubic capacity and things rotating. Provided you get your carbs setup to go with the new system you will get better fuelling across the range(which can feel like more low end torque, and will fix the mid range torque dip engineered in to get around sound and emissions regs), better fuel economy and more HP (which is torque multiplied by rpm). You are lucky. Your bike will probably be improved by a better end can or exhaust system. I think your friends are shallow though. I strongly suggest you go and see Mark at Neptune. As Munter what his CBR sounds like. It used to be mine and bloody hell did the end can and connector pipe make a difference!! Nice deep burble, that turned into a high RPM scream past about 10,000rpm. http://www.neptunemufflers.co.nz/ I STRONGLY suggest you go see him.

I've got an Arrow pipe on my CBR600. It sounds great (IMHO) and has a nice amount of backfiring on deceleration, it's the oval aluminium slip-on.
This one is on Trade-me at the moment <http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Mo...n-39801667.htm>
It looks like it's a full system and for $850 it's probably a pretty good deal, you may need to re-jet the carbs to get any noticeable performance gains though.

    Thumbs up

You guys are great as always Geeze if my standard exhaust is worth $1100 maby I can sell my whole bike for like $10k

No I love my new bike!

I think I could handle putting a new exhaust on it but re-jetting the carbs sounds like a lot of work/cost.

Then again if I could pick up a pipe and new jets for what I sell my orignal exhaust for what I spend on my new stuff that would be sweet!

Truth is I have spent too much on this bike to be spending a lot more on it just now!

You'd be lucky to sell you stock zorst for more than a couple of hundred dollars, if that.
It may cost $1100 to buy a new stock zorst but I can't understand why someone would pay that kind of money when the aftermarket ones are better and cheaper.

The re-jetting isn't actually that expensive and it's fairly easy, you just pull the carbs out, open them up and replace the existing jets with the new ones. In saying that, I would hazard a guess that most bikes with after market zorsts haven't been re-jetted. If you go with just a slip-on (pretty much just replacing the can) then you won't need to make any other changes.

Did he say $600?? Is that a slip on or would I have to replace the whole exhaust system?

I can understand you are enthusiastic Jim but tell me why this system is so good? (just for curiousity).

I dont think I would be able to put that on... and then I suppose I would have to change jets seeing as its a whole new exhaust, how much are jets worth and how much would it cost me to get someone to fit the whole lot??
