    bought another bike today

    bought me a 98 tl 1000s today.
goes well, it heap louder than the bike ihad.
man the seating is way different than the old gixxer feels like im on top of the front wheel on the tl where feels like im on the rear wheel on the gixxer.
so hope to clock up some kays now.
got a sore arse from it though. locked the back wheel while i test rode it.
i thought i read thast they had slipper clutches ,i came up onto a turning truck and i chopped down a couple and back wheel locked up and bounced around.
    engine braking like a truck.

Cool choice. I hope you did not trade the Gixxer. You will live to regret it. The old Gixxers rock and are great to hop on and go for a thrash from time to time. Every thing you said about the sitting position is spot on. I loved the old Gixxer.

Just how fast were you doing and what gear were you in.. when you chopped it down 2 gears.. haha Must say I haven't had the rear wheel lock on me.. though its great for seriously slowing ya down.

Welcome to the V-Twin ridin experience! =)

Congrats mate, the TL's are a great bike. Go good, look good, sound great. What more could you ask for?

I had the R, and never had a problem with it locking up. Its a simple device in the clutch, works kinda like a screw that tights up on the clutch under acceleration and unwinds to let the clutch slip under heavy engine breaking. Dunno if the S's are different, but wouldnt imagine so. Maybe its sticking or summit . . . I dunno, I'm no mechanic

Anyway, welcome into the v-twin club, your gonna love it!

Congrat's on the bike mate. Good engine breaking is one thing (among others) that I like about V-Twins.

has anyone changed the oil out of their original damper from here?
reading about it in tl planet and seems easy and very worthwhile.
    might give it a try.
