Jay Leno's bike vid - listen to the guy talking.

Saw this posted on an American bike forum a few years back, and after I posted links to those vid's the other day and folks commented about the American accent, I just had to track this one down. Well worth the download for the amazing sound this bike makes, and also the amazing sound of this guys voice!!

I mean you know it's a helicopter motor but until he starts the thing up you aren't really prepared for the sound. Would of been amazing to be there in person.

    I believe that's a Marine Turbine Technologies Y2K...
Not much good in the twisties but supposed to be good for over 400km/h...

Bloody hell, that thing's real? I just assumed it was part of a spoof that Leno had done for his show.
Remember to never split an infinitive. The passive voice should never be used. Do not put statements in the negative form. Proofread carefully to see if you words out. And don't start a sentence with a conjugation. (William Safire)

    GAH - one gear

They apparently have one gear, and a neutral button, cause after you back off it keeps accelerating for a sec so you have to hit the neutral button, no wing mirrors, cause it has a tail mounted camera and a display up front, no engine braking, thus the massive brakes, runs on diesel and i think they were saying something like 60 miles between fillups

sitting at the lights one day apparently Jay was looking in the rearview display and could see the bumper of a honda melting from the exhaust of the bike lol

MTT - marine turbine technologies also do a pickup with this motor, apprently they have been used past their useby in heli's but have still plently of hours to be used in a bike/car/whatever, pretty insane really

Ohhhhhhhh ya gotta just love the sound of the igniters clicking before the turbine lights up... AND the SMELL of Jet-A1 AVGAS fuel (not diesel - although it can be used as a substitute if desperate).
After being involved with turbines, there is nothing like those sounds and smells first thing in the morning...
As for having one on a bike... balls... and effing BIG ones at that!!!

Plonker alert... AVGAS is high octane petrol - JET-A1 is Kerosene

Note to self: engage brain more often...
