What I mean is that aren't we all Motorcycle riders. I owned many hondas early in my life, road and dirt. I love honda bikes. The usual happened, got married and had kids, slod the bikes (couldn't that the kids). I now own a Harley which I realy enjoy riding and the social side is great.

I dont and wont throw crap at people for owning a Duke or any other bike, at least they enjoy their bike and the thrill of riding. Why are there people out there that do nothing but shit on other motorcycist????

Hmm, my BMW has cost me a hell of a lot more than the Japanese bikes I have had, with the exception of the RG500, which were a handgrenade with the pin pulled from new.
A lot of it depends on individual models. BMW made their reputation with the air cooled boxer motors. Basically the same technology as a souped up Briggs and Stratton, not much to go wrong and easy to fix. Beemers never made much power anyway, and are well overbuilt, so there is not much stress on the engine.
I would still say that the Japanese are the best motor and production engineers in the world, bar none. They actually make an effort to squash the bugs in designs during the lifecycle of the model. Nice to see the Italians mantainng their reputation..
Is CCM the Chinese made bikes (scooters and small trailbikes)? Doesn't inspire me to buy one, even though they are cheap.

CCM is an English company, run by Michaela Fogarty. Well it was. It's gone broke again. They made Dirt and Motard chassis with tasty componenets and other people's engines.

Michaela was the PR Manager I thought, seems Motards are very highly strung so they aren't the most reliable machines.

A lot of time its done in fun, but brand loyalty is a funny thing and makes people say stupid things.
I was always a Honda man, but things change.

    Nope, Managing Director.

I was wrong they're back. The CLews family have bought it back and have started production again. They appear to have expunged the Fogarty connection from the company history too.

Wouldn't take that survey very serious. KTM for example mainly make performance machines that most owners will run fairly/very hard so obviously something is going to break, whilst BMWs and Harleys normally have people who take care of them, regulary service them and don't run them all that hard as the only cruise around on them. The brands are being unfairly compared. If it were a specific type of bike such as sports tourer or motocross bike, then the brands could be compared a bit more fairly as most of the bikes will be treated the same

Unfortunately I don't have a set of suitable spanners. Oh and they don't have a main stand. Another thing- EVERY make gets mocked here not just HD.

    Jap rules, especially Honda

Costs a sight less than a BMW and you get 0.8% less reliability. No brainer, really. Cheaper spares and more dealers. Probably Yamaha, Suzuki and Kawasaki make the ownership costs lower, too.
Being a BOF (boring old fart), not needing dirty fingernails and a cellphone for recovery count for a hell of a lot.

Good one, although it may fly a bit high here :-)
