What would you do with a crusier?

I have always disliked cruisers so I wonder what members of the sport and touring bike community would do if they aquired one.
I love the smell of asphalt in the afternoon...

I guess I'm not one of the elite sports and tourer community - but if I aquired a cruiser I would ride it - WHAT THE FUCK ELSE DO YOU DO WITH A MOTORCYCLE!!!!!

Any bike is a better than a cage ! Besides, having a HD handy would save me money when I hit my midlife crisis and want to be a wild man and ride a big heavy bike :spudbooge

Come now guys, don't be elitist...

Harley riders, for the Majority don't wave/acknowledge anyone on the road. Which I think is so wrong. I even wave at scooters, admittedly normally by accident, but I would anyway.

If I got a cruiser, I'd definitely ride it. A bike is a bike, is a bike. People have different cars, for different purposes.

But the question is, would you let ME ride with YOU if I turned up on a big ol cruiser ?

Hmmm...can'r really see you as an NZ version of 'Chips' Stonechucker

I'd ride the bike of course but not with a german helmet...do they make helmets anymore? But then I'd sell it and get a sports bike and an off road bike and some wheels to switch to supermotard, and a new set of leathers boots and helmet....I'd probably still have enough money left over to do a superbike school as well

I'm willing to lay money down that over 50% of the guys trashing cruisers have never ridden one.

I'd ride it for at least 6 months. If I still didn't like it after that time then sure I'd sell it. Just as I would an R1 or a GSX1200 or a 916 or a BMW given the same choice.

But then I don't own a sports bike or a tourer

    well put Motu,
Also it may come as shock to you harley hating guys out there, but Harley are not the only makers of cruiser bikes and there are a lot of jap cruisers out there, which are the preferred choice of bike for a lot of people. Namely short, poverty stricken types such as myself.
My bike was very cheap and if I wanted to upgrade and get another bike, I'd buy another cruiser, I like all bikes, but particularly like cruisers, they are not built for speed or peformance, but made for a lesuirely comfortable ride, who has a problem with that???

I would start shelling the Graf Spee - oops, that was in another life, dang, I'm always doing that!

Nowadays? I would cruise in it, take in scenery, tons of time to get my corner lines right, cushy ride for Mrs sd, no worries about tank-slapping, look cool, - sort of sums up most of my riding already!

I am the proud owner of a small but perfectly formed cruiser....and I love it.
I looked at all types of bikes when I was buying, but the cruiser suits me to a "T". The only thing I would swap it for would be a bigger, noisier, more powerful one!!!!!! However, that will have to wait until I get fully licenced.
And yes, one day I'd love to ride a Harley......I know that technically they are not supposed to be a great bike...but I have to admit to falling for the whole "romance" of it all. May not want to own one, but to ride one for a while would be a blast.

Welcome to KB, Lucyloo. Hope you enjoy yourself here.

If a cruiser landed in my lap, I'd ride it. Silly question. Probably wouldn't buy a German Helmet, unless it was a real nice BMW one. I guess you mean one of those ones with the spike on the top of it, or WW2 infantry helmet. yuck.

As far as I'm concerned, if its got two wheels, its all good.
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

I would get a certain Ductati person to slather it in carbon fibre, add some carbon tassles, racing paniers and stuff fit it with high rise clip ons and race it. All I'd need is a good start and those sport bike pussies would never get past me....

    You're right.

Thing is for me, I like the way sports bikes/sports tourers look. I'm not so keen on the look of the cruisers.
I would love to ride one (to see what it's like), but I wouldn't want to own one.
