friend of mine got on his year old fireblade to literally ride around the corner to another mates house, 30 seconds away first gear about 15mph. hit a pothole and front end went, hit the road with head and shoulders first, then. fingers and knees next. cracked his shoulder, worn the finger tips down through the skin. This is a sensible established rider in his forties and rides 8-10,000miles a year. He did not have any protective gear on at the time,so the consequences are, this is his fourth week off work and he is still bad. There is a lesson for us all here as we have all done something similar, just never been caught out. I could not believe such a minor spill could be so bad

just a reminder to always wear decent gear when riding, even the short trips. Any other reason that contributed to the crash, like drink or weather.

It's so often the way that what seems like a minor accident causes a great deal of damage whereas a high-speed one ("Mr I-crashed-at-160kph-plus-and-walked-away") can result in relatively minor injuries.

Hindsight is such a nasty thing "if only I'd walked, if only I'd worn my riding gear, etc." - hope your mate is on the mend soon.
