    Bike hire

Anyone know where you can hire bikes from? Been thinking it would be good to get a bunch of bikes together to give some newbies a taste of dirtbiking. Can russle some up between the boys, but would be good to get a couple of others, particularly a little 125 four stroke or two for the girls (of either gender).

    Anyone got some suggestions?

Thats what I was figuring, I'm sure I can convince a few of how much fun it is. Those that stick solely to the road (or the dirt for that matter) are really missing out on half the fun. Plus its good for road riders to get practice controlling a bike on the slippery stuff . . .

I've got heaps of people that are keen to give it a try, its just a mission finding the bikes for it.

Surely someone must hire them out?

Sweet, I'm keen to get a group together and make a day of it, get up to Woodhill maybe, take a bbq, the surfboards, and get stuck in. We've got the takers, where do we get the bikes? I'll put mine in, and I should be able to get one or two more, but would like something smaller for the girls to get started with as well (for some of the slighter, less experienced crew chucking them on a 2 stroke two fiddy aint the best idea).

I believe that there is a group who regularly go to Woodhill and some west coast beach as well, they rent bikes by the hour or half day or full day.
Cant remember the name but I hear they do a roaring trade!

Sweet mate, can you see if you can find out more info? Names, costs, dates etc, I'm sure between enough people it cant work out to be all that much.

    Anyone else know of anything?

Another option if you just want to try one for size is go to a Greg Power family day trail ride. He has the whole range of Honda off road bikes there for anyone to ride, i'm sure he'll be more than happy (in fact I know it) to get a bunch of road riders converted to the dirt, after all, if you try one on Sunday you might buy one Monday

I worked at woodhill bike park for 5 years, we were always being asked about bike hire,'only outfit that hired bikes was a quad hire place working out of the other end of the forest near Forestry H/Qs, and they only do ho hum guided tours, none of the bikes shops were keen due to large amount of damage done to bikes... Gregs Power family days do have try out demo bikes, but you would be Ltd to how long you could take them out, don,t think it would suit what you want to do, the other point is unless its wet newbies in deep soft woodhill sand is a big ask... have sent you a pm with another idea you might want to run with.

Sweet, thanks for that guys. I'm on his mailing list, so get his emails and newsletters, but I was more thinking of doing our own thing, getting some complete newbies along to have a blast, and it would be a better setting if it was just our group giving it a go rather than at a family day. Will bear that in mind tho - thanks for the suggestions!

if you want to try some gravel road riding, coromoto(.co.nz) is good - cruise over to Whitianga & hire some of their DR250's & 650's for a day of coromandel gravel.

    Cheers
