OK - who managed a ticket last Sunday?

well, no ticket but i did cruise through paeroa on my way back from a ride through the coromandel. I was amazed how many bikes were there. oh & where'd that bottle go?

We got a booze bus on the road direct from the Paeroa/Te Aroha road to Tahuna (not sure of the name of it, it bisects SH27 near Tahuna). There was shitload of cars going that way, they had four cops each with a meter thingy. (without wanting to sound holier-than-thou, I hasten to add that I personally have no problem with booze buses, these days I don't agree with drink/driving/riding)

OK - who managed a ticket last Sunday?

There was an air of excitment as groups of bikes left Paeroa after the racing had finished. I passed 3 police cars within about 30kms heading out of Paeroa towards Auckland and none of them were interested in the groups of bikes I was travelling with averaging 120-130km speeds...

I suppose the coppers were wanting to keep a control and lookout for any DIC and/or reckless drivers/riders. Most bikers expected a police presence and behaved accordingly I felt.

& no I didn't get pinged...did you Ogri?

I was heading north as all you lucky sods were going to the races. ( Jeez, I got sick of waving. I'm buying a Hardley next). Anyway, I didn't see one cop on SH27. I suspect they're getting cleverer and sitting on the back roads.

the Paeroa/Te Aroha road to Tahuna (not sure of the name of it, it bisects SH27 near Tahuna).

That be the Swamp road. So called because it cuts across a bloody great swamp (now drained on the south side, but still pretty wet on the north)

I went through Te Aroha then along Old Te Aroha road to bottom of Kaimai. Not a cop in sight.

Heading back down to Whakatane I know of a two less than happy bikers who had the pleasure of providing a donation to the xmas goverment piss up. One bloke on a Yam TRX 850 and the other was with a group of race reps. I believe the muffty was parked up the Wahi beach side road.
If it makes you feel any better, thanks guys, I got lucky this time ! you kept him busy.

So that sorts out the poor sods who like to have a bit of harmless fun under the right circumstances, what about the dipsticks who passed me in the temp 30 roadworks zone, crossing the double yellows to get past the other traffic at about double the speed limit throwing road chip all over the place, and you wonder why bikers are in the firing line of the law ! just cos you ride a Ducati does not mean the speed limits do not apply to you !
There is a time and a place for speed, lets be sensible & have some consideration for the rest of the road users out there.

I was between those two unlucky sods at the Waihi Beach turn off. PC Plod pulled the one in front of me and the one behind. Funny............ we were all travelling at the same speed???

Headed down with Zed on Sat(thanks for the company) and helped out with al sorts of stuff behind the scenes, as Dad's involved with the Promotional trust.

Long day but very good starting at 4.30. Learnt a lot about all the stuff that you don't see, Track planning, consents, track prep, handover etc. Amusing thing is that very few of the organisers from the trust have riden in the past, and none of them now owns a bike.

By chance I saw the Paeroa racing on Mobil Sport yesterday...it waz gr8 coverage!
