Bad luck there mate. Not a happy thought to see a bus bearing down on you!!

Your comments on Public Transport remind me of an incident I had some years ago...
Was on a DT175 in the metropolus of hams. On my way to work just before 8 and a bus does a righthand turn accross infront of me. I lock up the rear and hit the bus just behind the rear wheel.
Pick myself up and driver runs back somewhat worried!! All limbs still attached, bike a bit buckled but wheels still go around, so I think its time to leave. Something to do with no WOF!
Well get to work as it was only 50 meters away. And as you do after things happen, Think I had better get some more details from the bus company. So I phone them up and ask about the bus that has had the accident.
Lady says, "Oh which one?" , "There have been 3 this morning" !!!! Like how big is Hamilton in the early 80's!
End of story. Got insurance $'s and the bike, fixed it to live another day.
In Wellington you used to have to watch out for the Big Red's, they are all different colours now

Would cost about $30,000 to fix that with genuine *new* parts.

Glad a biker lives to see another day! At least the dumbass driver didn't say something like "Oh, didn't see ya, cos you're a motorbike", or "Ya shoulda had ya headlight on".

Man there are some idgets around!

hmmmm i dunno they might just say fix it :S it is only a bend wheel well it's screwed hubs shattered spokes snapped and all sorts couple of stuffed indicators stuffed bash plate side panels scraped and gear lever is majorly bent

Wow Mark - lucky you managed to walk away. Sorry to hear you lost your bike. I remember seeing my old cage burn down in front of me (leaky fuel hose, complete accident confirmed by fire fighter) -- almost cried as I was watching it........

    Anyway back to reality.

The fact that you dived out of the way is the only thing keeping your head from looking like that rim.

The driver needs to be dealt with properly - I hope you've reported it to the police by now.

Then get it fixed - insist on genuine new parts FOR EVERYTHING and a proper factory paint job.

    Tyre
    rim
    brake disc
forks damaged (and presumably not straight)
    Triple clamp twisted
    Head twisted???
    tank???
    headlight
    Calipers damaged
    Indicators
    And the list goes on.........................

What I can observe is just from a distance.
What is the bike worth out of curiosity?

Man, bus drivers think they own the mother f*cking roads sometimes
They pull out without looking or indicating half the time

Mate, I just want to say a big well done for keeping your head enough to bail. I know having the bike minced is a right pisser, but you should be happy that you've got what it takes to stay in one piece with all these eejits around. Keep it up.

Good luck with the replacement, keep us posted.

Ouch mate, just caught up with this thread. As everyone has said. Get the driver done for something. The next person may not be so lucky.
