    V-twin thousand R0AR!

Was lucky enough yesterday to spread myself over a brand new black 2005 VTR1000 and take it up from piha, along scenic drive to henderson.

Was a nice change from the crazy little R6, i really love the way you can 'feel' the power, and also just how smooth it rolls on, no need for gear changes if you come to a corner a lil slow etc. I was also really surprised at how light it felt, im assuming its to do with the steering damper on the R6, but this 'big' bike felt little to me.

Went to sleep dreaming of that roaring crack (it had neptunes on it) that it makes as you fire it up and give it a rev

Might be my next bike me thinks

The rumble is certainly nice and when you hit the open road it is even better.
After buying big Ds bike i just can't help think to myself how long it will be before i get pulled over for an excessively loud exhaust.

    Live long and prosper

I'm glad you made it from Piha to Henderson on one tankful!

It's also a very saaaaatisfying noise sitting in [the front of] traffic too. The 600's don't seem to command much attention at idle.....

if you wanna hear a real thunderous roar, you all should try to have a listen to WRT's new pipes on his RSV-R. there not pipes so much as they are rocket launchers or jet engine exhaust's

    Cheers Postie, glad you approve

Sounds gooooood going thru the underground car park at work now . . . and when riding in traffic, people not only notice, but hurry to get out of your way! Its almost like having an escort up front clearing a path . . . makes you feel like Moses.

Yep, I'e noticed that since getting the SV with it's M4 pipe that people get out of my way quite quickly.

Hmm, could be 'cause they see this dodgy chick on a bike heading straight at them of course...

    Custom Pipes

I too love the V-Twin roar, my VTR currently has the standard pipes, and are too quiet.

I am in the process of having a pair of aftermarket pipes made by Custom Chambers, they get fitted tomorrow I should post a before and after soundfile.
Some days it's not even worth chewing through the restraints.

whoops, the pipes were micron not neptune

yo marmoot, will trade you a straight R6 later on next year maybe?

decided i might 'upgrade' to a big twin thumper once i've had some sporty fun on the R6. The torque just makes it so easy to ride out of corners, i found out i'd only been using 2nd and 3rd gear on the VTR today when i took it for another spin... seems to have the exact same power right through into 6th gear
