Will I Get Away with It?

This is really tempting fate but hey...let's have your thoughts people.
In brief... I got busted a couple of weeks back for 126 in a 100 on SH2. Shit happens. $230 and 35 demerits. Still two weeks to go before coughing.
Just noticed that the ticket reads "exceeded the speed limit by 126kph"
Do you reckon that as the officer hasn't done his job properly and there are
"inconsitancies" on the ticket there's a chance it will be thrown out in my favour if I bring it to the courts attention?

section 204, summary Proceedings Act 1957. Sorry.

204.Proceedings not to be questioned for want of form—

No information, complaint, summons, conviction, sentence, order, bond, warrant, or other document, and no process or proceeding shall be quashed, set aside, or held invalid by any [District Court] or by any other Court by reason only of any defect, irregularity, omission, or want of form unless the Court is satisfied that there has been a miscarriage of justice.

you could give it a go though.

You can only but try. Good luck.
To every man upon this earth
    Death cometh sooner or late
And how can a man die better
    Than facing fearful odds
For the ashes of his fathers
And the temples of his Gods

Do the crime pay the fine. You were going too fast, you got caught... pay up.

Ever wonder why when people get stopped they're done for about 15 different things, well it's because the rozzers know you're gonna contest 14 of them because they spelt your name with an E instead of a I, so at least one of the charges will stick.

Maybe the dyke mafia should reinvest some of the cheddar they get from motorists into a new education system to teach the pigs to read and write??

But then Sir Helen couldn't have so many overseas trips......

If you're gonna try it make sure you do it nicely. Otherwise they might not be nice.
They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the evening,
    we will remember them

Thanks for that Colapop... my thinking is that if you dont ask, you don't get.
But yes...politeness will be the order of the day. After all the officer in question was really a very nice chap!

Considering you were only being a little naughty... right? I will always consider a request from staff or kids in a more favourable light if they are polite and the information is concise.

    - I don't think you'll get away with it but as you say "you don't try, you don't suceed."

Write in, deny you were travelling at such a speed, ask for the ticket to be waived due to lack of proof of the correct speed check.
    Speed doesn't kill people.
    Stupidity kills people.

If it went to court - no chance. Only suggestion would be as already said, write in and say it is unclear what speed you were doing and request that the ticket be waived or the correct speed disclosed. The maybe more of a hassle for them to find out and just waive it. Don't be arrogant in the letter and you will stand a better chance
