    ahh the problems

Yea the rules are getting tougher but its a game.... you just bend the rules..... Someone elses said try a supermoto and i agree. There are lots of ways to get it going on a bike and if the top speed thing doesnt get off because of the risks (to licence or life) go hard another way. How about a little wheelstand after drifting the rear into a round about on a DRZ400 motad?
GSXRs and R1s etc (yea the 600s too) are licence eaters if ya let them but its hard to resist..... a good radar detector and some riding buddys help, so do tight roads with 45k to 75k posted corners in a 100k zone.
Fools in cars.... thats up to you to watch out for but you knew that right?

Jeesh... Just get back on a bike and get on with it.
All of the things you mention will become minor worries once you get a few k's under your belt on a great day on some nice twisty road out in the countryside. We do it because of the feeling we get from riding and on a good day it just cant be beaten.
May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face.

Yeah OK, but a lot of that stuff is just conjecture at this stage, it hasn't yet been implemented and will likely take a long time to happen if it ever does. Don't forego what is a hugely enjoyable passion/lifestyle just beacuse of a few negatives.

Like Bartman10 said, go demo a late model bike and I guarantee you'll fall in love with the machines again. Do it now, and THEN see whether any of the transponder chips etc etc come to pass.

    • Front licence plates for motorcycles.

The above are reasons why I’ve suddenly felt like abandoning my plans to buy another bike. It’s been three years since I’ve ridden, and things look so much worse now than they did when I last had my leg over the old stead.

I’ve been looking forward to a new bike, but all of a sudden I don’t know if its worth it. Maybe I just need to take a pill, but I need some words of wisdom KB’ers!

In case this is not a wind-up: No ya dork, I meant take it to the limits, i.e. whatever the law lets you do - take it to the extreme without breaking the law.

The other didn't miss the post - they knew what I meant!

Go and felch with the kittens

If it is a wind up - well done!

    Well we just fight back...

Screw this, it's still a free country and these idiots have gone too bloody far. I think there is a ground swell of public opinion that would back it as well...

I know how you feel and at times I have thought the same way (in my weaker moments) but I've been doing this all my life and I'm not giving in until they lever the fecking twist grip out of my cold dead hand...

I'm not advocating stupidity here but enough is enough! Do you think Burt Munro or John Brittan would just give up? Harden up mate! IF there is a fight a brewing, I don't plan on being on the loosing side!

    Cheers

If you ride/drive around at the speed limit you won't have a problem,if you decide to take the risk of exceeding it then some of that may apply...Freedom of Choice
