    Best ute? for a bike

I'm getting sick of the trailer dam fast, so what do you guys think is teh best ute? I think I'd like a double cab.

    Cheers

problem is most double cabs have shorter trays - as in not long enough for a bike without stowing it diagonally in the tray.
single cabs are often better for a bike.

the best ute is a van, then you don't have to worry about people pinching stuff off the deck, and crap won't fly off if you don't tie it down.

and then I would probably get a Nissan Homy (don't snigger!) they have enough space that you can fit the bike in while the rear seat is still usable, my L300 you have to fold the seat up.

And utes are too high, they are an embarassing moment just waiting to happen.

i'd got with a van, less hassle with losing bits off the back and no problems in high winds...

my ute is a 2003 navara, if you leave the tail down I can fit both the R1 and the race bike on it and have it all strapped down sweet as. Can even get them loaded by myself, but it is easier with two. Defn. beats towing a trailer though, now pesky 80km/h speed limit to worry about either....

You can lock up a van overnight

Otherwise I'd go for a nice holden ute like a kingswood or a statesman, and even better a Chevy El Camino (looks like the Chevelle only has a deck in the back, drool)

Got a double cab Navara too, does the job well.

With tailgate down easy to fit 2 bikes on and not to high. Good for putting gear on back seat where as if theres 2 of you in single cab gear has to go on back, no good in rain. Got the 2.4 petrol go for V6 if you can afford it.

Got my eye on the Holden Cross 8

So all they have to do is steal the van I know guys who have had it happen.

I would't leave bike on the back of the ute overnight for any reason without several locks and keeping it out of view of the road.

Got the double cab as it's very good at multi tasking. Most guys who travel to a lot of races seem to go for a van.

Not much different to just stealing the ute though init?

I'd get a van, a great big Chevy, A-Team style van. Black with bit fat red, orange and yellow stripes that sweep over the roof. Hell yeah.
