Motorbike Remote Starter?

Hey, I was just wondering how i could put a remote starter on my ninja as i really want to keep this bike in as good a condition as i can by warming it up before riding, would this one work? and i'm to lazy to go down and turn it on, so don't suggest that

Big hint number one: make sure you wire it up so it wont start in gear, not like the homo's at Mobile Alarm Specialists in Hamilton who fitted my Mongoose MCA500 or whatever they are called.

Actaully I still have the alarm in my shed if your interested, the alarm part of it isn't working I dont think, but the remote start part should be fine.

Think it basically works from the neutral light, so that if the neutral light isnt going, ie bike is in gear, it wont start.

Work from bloody ages away, say... 400m easy if you have clear sight. Think the y might be about $250.00 new. Um how about $50.00?

I used to have the wiring diagram but have lost it, pretty sure you can get them from the mongoose website though. Called a mca striker or something...

just wondering if you can attach an alarm and/or a remote starter on a 2 stroke 250?, is the battery big enough?

I've got the MCA500 on my bike, have used the remote start function maybe 5% of the times I've started it. Modern bikes don't need to be warmed up for long, infact after you've pulled itout of the garage, start it up, put your gloves and helmet on and ride off. Easily of course until she gets up to normal temp. Also, and if I'm wrong correct me someone, but my understanding is that bikes should not be left to idle for too long on their sidestand. Maybe this applied more to early bikes with inefficient oil pickups, but still I don't think that you'll be better off with one overall. Just my opinion.

Yeah I mainly used mine to impress kids and scare girls! TL was pretty loud, especially when you weren't expecting it to start as you walked behind the pipes, funniest time was when a girl actually dropped her grocery bags outside the supermarket she got such a fright haha, I am a mean bastard! No wonder i'm single right now! Oh and if you take out the siren beepy thing then the passers by get no warning of it starting too!

Yeah, at work if I saw someone getting to close to the bike, ie leaning over the instruments, I'd start it up. Freaks 'em out!! Good for confusing children as well.

DSS3 and onearmedbandit have got it right, remote start is mainly for fun. You'll prolong the life of your engine by starting the bike, then putting your helmet on and locking the front door or whatever, and riding carefuilly for the first few km.

I heard something about someones bikes barrel wore away unevenly from those warms ups it spent on its kick stand. If you want it to last longer you're probebly best to warm it up whilst sitting on the bike

I had a remote start on my last bike and only used it a few times, bit of a gimmick really...if you do go ahead with it don't forget to put the key in the ignition when you take off!
