Just looked up the y2k. A very limited production run by a Louisiana based company. A tad pricey as well...

I had to laugh when they were going on and on about the 916's awesome handling and then they show a sequence of Chilli throwing his "916" away...you might have thought they would have used a different bike crashing for that bit.....![]()

NOOOooooooo..... that'd be one of the last things i'd do! didn't choo see what it did to the cars bumber!!!. damnOriginally Posted by Smoggie

And if anyone who may have seen the movie torque(crap also in my opinion) the Y2K made an appearance in that, they claimed it did somethingg like 0-200 in under 10 secs... i thinks... then he struggles to catch some guy on a nitro powered hog/cruiser![]()
I guess the best way to think about the Y2K is like a McLaren F1 car etc... still the quickest but noone has them and they hardly ever get made (stopped production now anyway).Originally Posted by Swoop

I'd wanna build my own Y2K sorta thing... that _would_ be awesome.
But for the mean time i'll have to settle for an 916... damn.
Ok didnt see what the best bike was (missed that bit) but OMG wtf sounds like I didnt miss much if the tards voted sum shitpile like that as #1. They must have some goood stuff over there![]()

10 - Knuckle head....it was the first of the modern OHV Harleys, and pretty impressive for it's day.Beautiful looking motor,a classic for motorheads.I've only seen one, just a few years ago, complete and unrestored, pulling a restored boat chair. One of the Tompkins had it.
9 - Motu Guzzi V8.....should of been higher than 9,a fantastic acheivement of the day, very little to rival it these days.A failure? No,Guzzi pulled out of GP racing in an aggreament with the other factories....except MV who went on to clean up.NO WAY was it a failure!
8 - Vespa....definatly deserves a mention,no problem seeing them in the top 10.
7 - Brough Superior....deserves a mention,but I would put Vincent ahead here.
6 - Britten....it's one of ours,belongs in any top 10,ok by me.
5 - Triumph Bonneville.....not the best British 650 twin, but certainly the most exciting, the Bonny should be a top 5 in anyones list.
4 - Y2K....Go away! Dreamed up by a Yank, and they'll be the only people stupid enough to buy one.Just one upmanship,it has no place in motorcycle discusion.
3 - Honda CB750.....I had one and don't rate it highly,as the experts said - a boring bike,no excitment at all, except when the crappy handling caught you out.But definatly a turning point in motorcycle design - not for it's greatness, but because it put ordinary people on a fast bike, before the CB750 they were dorky university types who rode an RD350,they were scared of real bikes....or at least, the people who rode them.
2 - Ducati 916....?? why? Nice looking,yes...fast and great handling...yes,but all Ducati's are.Maybe because like the CB750 it put exotic Italian bikes into the sights of mainstream motorcyclists, who were too scared to aspire to such heady heights.Race winner...yeah,right - only because of a mistake in the rules.
1 - Honds C50 Cub...Choice! I agree, the most important bike there ever has been, put more people on a bike than all the rest combined.Ha ha - and they are STILL around! check out the engine in a mini chopper....yep,the C50 just keeps rollin' on.

odd program things they should have mentioned they didn't, like the guzzi only being a 500.
the bonneville was the best of british in its time motor wise but nortons had the frame that worked, plus in the triumph section they started woffling about other model triumphs?
the y2k yeah rite, thats just an exercise in engineering & at $183k US its accessable to all
mmm the 916 it was only a styling change, it was the 851 & 888s that set modern dukes to their status, plus they didn't enlighten the unknowing to the fact of the dukes were up against 750s.
for amazing race bikes where were the honda 250 6cylinder racers or the laverda v6 endurance bikes or slippery sam
the honda 750 deserved its place but for road bikes worthy of mention where was the z900 or Mach 1 or even the CBX honda or GSX-R750h
the Britten should have been further up the list, it set the motorcycling world on its arse & everyones still playing catch-up today for what it achieved
Yeah totally agree, but in the end the bike with the highest volume of sales got the crown.... go figure!Originally Posted by WINJA

So where were the motorcross and ag bikes? Surely if they can make the Cub No.1, then there are definitely Ag's and MX's that deserve their place it that list.

Waking up this morning I have come to the conclusion that the ONLY thing that I agree with on that program was when they said........ "Motorcycling is a way of life". The rest was bullshit

I found the show insulting to our collective biker intelligence.

Have you noiced how the last 2 shows (Greatest ever Cars & Motorcycles) are essentially a vehicle for Jay Leno to pimp his collection of exotic vehicles?
Brough Superior, Y2K, Stanley Steamer, Dusenberg etc.
Bugger me, I'll stand up, tell a joke and insult some people every night for that sort of garage.

im really shocked that they didnt have a GPZ900, Fj1100, ZZR1100, Busa, Fireblade, Katana, Vmax, gixxer1100, or Blackbird anywhere t be seen.
i did however have a Cub at one point very early in my life so i understand how BULLETPROOF those little things were..
