    Motorcycle registration

I was just wondering if Kiwibiker, with a membership of over 3000 (making them one of the biggest collectives of motorcyclists in the country), have any ideas or plans of lobbying the government regarding the current registration cost. In addition to the Katana, I have an 80cc scooter as my workshop runabout and am looking to get a motorbike for my wife. It sure pisses me off that I'm expected to pay 25% more to register my scooter than it does for a gas-guzzling 4WD.

I mean its cause we all crash and injure ourselves

What I think is bullshit is that you have a few bikes and you have to register them all even though you can only ride one at a time, it should be the driver that is registered not the vehicle!

Paying 3 odd ACC levies when you can only evey use one is unfair in my books.

that makes a hell of a lot of sense actually - if you registered the driver rather than the vehicle you could modify the acc levy based on age, crash history, licence level, convictions, etc. Would be kind of like insurance - you would get rewarded for good behaviour.

You still need to register vehicles, but without the acc levy thats only about $15 a year or so.
