Bugger, I was hoping to put MissSniper through a CBTA course
To every man upon this earth
    Death cometh sooner or late
And how can a man die better
    Than facing fearful odds
For the ashes of his fathers
And the temples of his Gods

The LTSA is satisfied they now have enough statistics to meet their requirements. This news comes from Andrew Templeton who runs Wellington's courses.
Unsure whats happening in other centres but I'd imagine it's the same.

So if you need to fast track, get onto it now!
I heard the same thing at the Mad Magpie rally from the guy who runs courses for it - in Timaru I think.

Did the whole thing in 3 months, not the best way to learn, but did come out with some new ideas about staying upright.

I at least had the experience of riding dirt bikes b4....... but some people doing the course had problems going faster than 20km, god help us all when they get on the road

    :-(

    That's sad.
Do you think that the people who did the CBTA were well enough behaved on the road to give them 'good' data and make it a perminant thing?

I hope so! Im finally able to go for my restricted but cant afford to do it till next year, damn xmas!
I do remember Andrew Templeton saying (when I sat my learners) that they were going to be "reviewing" the system but he said that anyone booked in for a certain date would still be able to complete the CBTA even if it was cancelled/stopped....

That's interesting as I know someone who took a CBTA course and watched as another participant was pulled out and sent home for the same thing.

Well I don't know if I was well enough behaved, but I was never caught doing anything bad on the bike

    For those in AKL

According to Passrite Penrose (who I just got off the phone with):

1 - you have to have a NZ drivers licence for 2 years (stuff that you have 4 different driving licences from different countries including UK, US and France singe you were 17)

2 - "If you don't get your enrolment forms in before december 10th you won't be allowed on the courses" ... now they are still offering the january course... so that would make it enrolment rather than completion by the 10th of december.

If you fulfill their requirements then you should be able to make it onto the course in January provided you get your enrolment in before 10/12... I'd say go for it. (I can't... wrong type of licence)

Anyways... Good Luck, and check with them first!

Talked to Andrew and Roadsafe (WGTN) and he says that you have to have your application in for a course by dec 10. I would have to do two courses to get my full but thats not going to happen as youre not allowed to anticipate the graduation from the restrict course. Bugger...gonna have to learn to love my bike for a lot longer now .
