http://translate.google.com/translat...lr%3D%26sa%3DG i found this.....doesnt really say too much.....the k5 [according to twowheels] has a claimed 133.7 kw but the measured 118.3 kw on a dyno, in old figures thats 179.22252hp and a measured 158.579088hp. so what does that mean? the american magazine "motor cyclist" has a claimed figure of 178 hp from zuki....RAPID magazine has figures of: claimed 134.6 kw=180.428954hp, and they measured somewhere 155 mark [i have only a graph for that one sorry] so who has the correct data? maybe an average of all these results would be better?![]()
Just seen a forum that claims the the 06 model is +2 HP over the old model...Other comment is new cans with increase +5 and loss a bit of weight...

The torque figure is of significate interest....but the area below a hp plot on a dyno chart give you a better indication of how a engine will perform
The operator applies the correction factor, no correction = big hp.Originally Posted by cowpoos

what if you have a high torque figure and multiply it to high rpm? eg small engine with turbo [thinks of k5thou...mmmmmm] would that mean you have a shitload of power and torque?.....i was looking in one of my [three] magazines with comparos on the 05 thous and such like and in their stats aprillia claims 166hp ond is measured higher than the zook/ kwaka/ yammy/ honda who all have higher power claims...wtf??? it puts out round about the claimed 166hp, yet the zook and all the other jappas claim higher power and have a significantly lower measured power....time to reconsult the other magazinesOriginally Posted by cowpoos

yes well as above.. claims are claims. Maybe aprillia are honest?Originally Posted by ducatilover
And getting engine power to rear wheel seems to loose a bit... so depends if the claims are at the crank or at the rear wheel.
The correction factor compensates for differences in atmospheric pressure, temperature, humidity. The things that affect the hp figure and allows comparison between dyno runs under different conditions.Originally Posted by cowpoos

KAWASAKI AMERICA HAD 2 IDENTICAL RACE BIKES SAME HP SAME COMPONENTS , BUT ONE WAS CLEARLY A LOT FASTER IN A STRAIGHT LINE AND NOT BY JUST A LITTLE BIT , WHAT THE STATIC DYNO DIDNT SHOW WAS THAT THE ANGLE OF THE EXHAUST OUTLET WAS CRITICAL AND ONE OF THE BIKES EXHAUST SPIGOT WAS KICKED OUT AT A DIFFERENT ANGLE DURING MANUFACTURE PUTTING THE EXHAUST INTO A HIGH PREASURE AREA OF TURBULANCE . A NORMAL DYNO WONT SHOW THIS HP DIFFERENCE BUT KAWASAKI IN JAPANS WOULD , ITS A WIND TUNNEL DYNO THAT BLOWS A 300KMH WIND AT THE BIKE AND DOWN THE RAM AIR WHICH IS ANOTHER POINT WHEN DYNOING BIKES RAM AIR CAN PLAY A PART , SO SOME OF THESE WILD HP CLAIMS ARE NOT ALWAYS AS WILD AS YOU THINK ITS JUST THAT WE CANT ALWAYS SEE THE TRUTH ON THE WAREHOUSE DYNOS MOST SHOPS USE.
