Most manufacturers quote a crank HP figure for marketing purposes. Cars and bikes. RW HP is something that has come into vogue with the more ready availability of shop dyno's and are usually power at the rear wheel. Individual bikes differ, dynos differ, so I wouldnt get too hung up on 2-3 HP claims, one bike over another.
The manufacturers will always try and claim bragging rights, and idiots out there will always believe A is better than B, because it makes 2hp more or something. A manufacturers figure will often be a figure slightly higher than the average for that motor, although most motors will be around that figure, depending on vagaries in assembly, run in etc. and measured at the crank!
All the figures I have seen claim 195PS for the ZX14.
That is really only an indicative figure.

I was always told that HP is at the crank, and bhp was at the rear wheel, so bhp figures are the ones to look at, before pitching a tent in your pants.

The power available to propel a vehicle. It is equal to the indicated horsepower minus the remaining power after losses due to friction and to run the fan, water pump, and other components.

In other words, after all friction causing components, you have a true horsepower figure, that represents the available power left to move the motorcycle/car.

What ever you have say 165HP then divided it by 1.36 & that's how much KW's your bike has or if you have the KW's then X it by 1.36

EG 165 divided by 1.36 = 121kw or 121KW x 1.36 =165 HP

hmmmm, i use a different method, i use .746 as my ratio but it seems to work just the same

why are we dribbling about this? i always thought power to weight ratio was the main factor? and gear ratios/ suspension settings/ tyres and such things play a huge part in it too, i mean wow 183hp but what use is that if the gear ratios are wrong? like if they are too short then you will have a noticeable amount of wheelspin [some say acceleration increases if you shorten the ratios, but there is an extent to that] and if your gear ratios are too wide/ long, then you will be lacking in acceleration.......so it isnt so much a gixxer killer unless you know eveything about the bloodt thing.......i still wouldnt mind one though the gixxa looks better to me

200, it looks like 200 will be the magic number, the latest version of the MV Agusta F4 100o is rumoured to have 200hp and will do 200mph. The word is the Kawasaki dudes are looking at tweaking the ZX1400 to also hit this number 200, fark 200hp from a production bike
Personally I dont have a problem with this, but think these sort of bikes should be priced at like $100,000. You can buy supercars with this sort of performance (200mph) but being able to buy a bike for say under $30K, just means too many dick heads get them and bad press/publicty ensures etc, and yeah I know 'busas, ZX12R's and K5's get pretty bloody close already
