the rectifier tends toget hot and needs better cooling. when it blows or the coil drops a phase (i think) it outputs 19volts instead of 14 and fries the battery too. you can look up www.400greybike.co.uk for more info.
they are a bit chronic for electrical faults just need some livin i guess. a common mod is rgv250 front end, and i think a shock off an aprilia, not sure these days.
