Its one thing if they have a major disaster and helping out, but this constant overseas funding is hurting those of us in this country who are already on the bread-line.
The government seams to be inventing excuses not to give us a well-deserved and overdue break from the 10001 different little taxes they impose on us every step of the way.
Not to mention the other things like the price hike to $150 for a passport!
You can go over seas for less than that!
I wonder when it will all end? If ever.
It seams like a bit of a contradiction when another country/island wants to be independent that we give them money.
For one thing we aren’t independent ourselves, and if they are getting money from us, then they aren’t independent ether!
I don’t know why I bother voting, all a pack of two faced thieving leaches at the best of times.
We all have our little obsessions...

Well ol' Winji 9 million a year is cheaper that what it would cost to clean the fucking mess up if we didn't put up the pingas. They'll all be living here with NZ citizenship anyway.

We need to close the borders to all PI immigrants, and bring back dawn raids and 0800 dob-a-fob to clean out all the illegals.

Then we pursuade france and the US to use the remaining inhabited pacific islands for above ground nuclear testing, and voila, no more problems with bloody fobs.

Like the benefit system here....one of the benefits is known as TheIndependentYouthAllowance. What is up with that??
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

Actually, NZ is one of the only countries in the world where tax avoidance is illegal too.

It is illegal to order your affairs such that you pay a minimum of tax.

Given that it is often the older PI generation that brings up the kids, rather than parents, this would keep school age kids in the islands and out of trouble in New Zealand, providing them with a greater sense of their culture and other benefits, notably less cost to the New Zealand taxpayer.
They do recieve super payments in the islands but must be back in the country for a period (3 months I think) to continue receiving them.

WINJA; The number of PI people in NZ who are paying taxes far outweighs the financial support the government gives their countries.
What about the number dole bludgers out there? What about those invalid beneficiaries who should be at work? What about those IHC people who just expect someone to look after them? What about the asian students that come over here and expect to get an education and [pay exhorbitant fees for it?

Who else is on your 'list' WINJA?
They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the evening,
    we will remember them

You think that's bad. Try living in the UK when they separated the Scottish and Welsh Parliaments.

Now the Scots and the Welsh can go to university for free whilst those of us in England have to pay for it. And here's the rub, the Scottish and Welsh parliaments are running a fairly sizable deficit that has to be made up by English taxpayers!!

    It's all politics bullshit man.

When the Govt can give sufficient, even generous, aid to our disaster victims. Then and only then should they give foreign aid.
Apparently farmers flooded out in Gisborne for the 2nd time in a month will get nothing.

THE PI PEOPLE IN NZ GET MORE THAN THEIR SHARE OF BENEFIT FROM THEIR TAX DOLLARS .I DONT SEE WHY WE SHOULD SUPPORT THEIR HOME COUNTRIES AS WELL , ESPECIALLY WHEN THERES NO MONEY LEFT IN THE KITTY FOR FARMERS THAT LOSE CROPS ETC.

My father and I didn't see eye to eye for a long time, long story and all. It got to the point where I felt it was best that I wasn't living under his roof any longer. If it hadn't been for the Youth Independence Allowance, I would have been stuck where I was. Not good.

I wasn't a shithead as a child, nor was I perfect. But my father managed a large company, drank too much and we'd feel his wrath. I didn't choose to go on the benefit, but if I hadn't I would hate to know what the consequences would've been.
