do you object to stereos on bikes?

I was considering installing a stereo on my bike, but received fierce cutting remarks, so I want to see what everyone thinks of stereos on bikes

Its wrong, if they were meant to have stereos, they would have come out with stereos

i dont object but its kinda dumb having a stereo on a bike. have a helmet with speakers is better. I use nice slimline ones. mmmmmmm techno.
I only posted this because of the global economic crisis

Jez dude, call that "fierce ", might want to grow some thicker skin, and i suspect that by starting a new thread on the same subject your only going to incur more independent opinions from other folks here.

i was taken aback by comments such as 'not a real biker'. didn't know people felt so strongly about it. and i started a poll to find the opinion of other people on this particular subject, not about wiring an amp to my bike.

    music on the bike

a lot of people do it, but i can't.
i'd rather be alert to what's going omn around me.
    but i live in auckland.
if I were doing a lot of open road riding, i'd prolly feel different.

ONE of the things that seperates us from the other road abusers is the fact that we are unhindered by the distractions of entertainments. When I ride I use 100% of my concentration to read the road, and all the sensory information that is propelled at you constantly. Not only is lisening to music a DISTRACTION it stops you hearing your engine and interperting its fed back, it also stops you hearing the road noise.

Cutting out one sense will decimate the others, it doesn't take much to drop a bike, why make it easier.

Just ignore them, it's a great idea.

I'm thinking about installing one on the TL, have to switch the two brothers pipes with standards thou, just so i can hear the music.
