Busa/supercruiser Owners

I am thinking of buying the Hayabusa either next year, or maybe wait till next summer for the all new Busa.Very hard decision, for I have been wanting to buy this bike for a long time now.
Would appreciate it if you peoples out there who owns one of these wonderful machines could tell me about your likes and dislikes,if any of this bike. Like how does it handle around the tight twisties and what is it like comfort wise(long distance for pillion)..and is it easy to do a clutchless wheelie(ha ha)....ect,...
If you know anything about the 2007 model..pics, anything would be appreciated..
Any one got one or ridden on the new ZX-14R. If so, what is that like?

The sort of thread I was looking for.... I am having the feeling of getting a black bird for general and long distance riding. Seeing that I find the CB900 is getting too viby for me on longer trips.

Can you tell me what is to like and not to like about the black bird and also things that you are hoping to improve on by upgrading?

The ZZR1400 (ZX-14 in the USA) more than likely won't be seen until March, the ones being shown are all prototypes. As a matter interest the ergos of the ZZR14 are essentially the same as the ZZR1200 .

The blackbird is a great bike and i have no regrets buying it.To tell you the truth, I don't think I will be improving all that much by buying the Hayabusa appart from it being a brand new bike.Touring wise, the only way to improve on the blackbird I think, is to buy a BMW or goldwing, but I don't like them very much. Like the sporty look and feel.
The only thing I think the blackbird can improve on is to lower the foot peggs. There aint much difference between the bird and that of a superbike.The leggs get cramps after about 300kms.Also the long wheel base and the heavy weight makes it hard to handle over the tight twisties.
The good things I like about it, is that its got power, and loads of it. if i want to pass cars on the motorway and have to accelerate quick, I dont even have to gear down, just open her up, and she goes.Also it is a very good bike for going two up. My wife loves it.I like the linked braking system-works really well. the guys that goes hard out don't like it too much cause they can't hit the back brake when going into a corner too fast.
Overall its a great bike and I will be very sad to let her go..

I am almost dead sure I,ve seen one passing me in Nelson about two months back. the Zx-14 or ZZr1400

I've ridden a few Busas since being a Bird owner.

The differences:

Brakes - Linked on the Bird (obviously), so there's more independent control into corners on the Busa - So better suited to 'balls out' sproty riding than the Bird.

Weight - You feel the weight of the Busa more than the Bird around town. But in the country and at 40Kmph+ you'll never notice.

Comfort -A more upright riding position than the Bird. I found the Busa a tad more comfortable around town, as the Bird has a sportier riding position.

Performance - I've ridden the Bird and the Busa back to back on a few occasions, and I didn't notice any difference in performance. I know the Busa is faster, but the difference in performance is relatively small up to legal (ish) speeds.

Manageable power and easy to ride. Easier to wheelie than a Bird. Alledgedly.

Corners - The Busa doesn't quite sit in sweepers like the Bird, but it's still a more planted machine than a true sports bike. As with the Bird, the Busa can't cope with the tighter sections the way a sports bike will. But it will handle the tighter sections more fluidly than the Bird.

As a long term investment in a tourer/fast road bike - I'd choose the Bird for a whole number of reasons. If I was more likely (interested) to mix it up with sports bikes and enjoy sports riding (Hooning?) on the roads, I'd choose the Busa.

well i'm a bit biased, but i too have ridden both, but for me the bus is just the more comfortable ride. i found the honda just a little too staid and sensible. and why do they only come out in block colours? boring. i didn't ride the bird hard, so can't comment on it's twisties performance, i find the busa though takes corners probably 30km/h quicker than the tl, and just has eeeennndddllleeesss grunt. a harmonic at 46-4800 is a bit annoying, but that is 150k, so it's either quicker or slower (usually quicker). i clutchless wheelied the bus on a downhill (down French Pass even) the other day, but i did have a 65kg pillion on, so i guess that helped. from what i've seen Zed doesn't have too much trouble getting his bird up though.

on top of that, i just like the busa bacause of what it is - built for a reason, not to a price.

one other thing - i think the bird has a 1 piece exhaust/muffler set-up, whereas the busa has bolt ons - may make it easier to upgrade the zorsts? i can't say i'v seen a bird with a/m mufflers.

well obviously i havnt ridden a busa/bird/zx14, but i know the busa is fast through the twisties with a good rider, i raced one, well tried to, on the gn through some twisties and pharque! it was rather quick even in the middle of the bloody corners.....

and they go sorta quick down the straights too... lol i like them if my eyes are closed, and the zx14r is supposed to be quite sproty for that kinda bike....

Um, that would be didn't have, and I always used the clutch to get the Bird up in 1st & 2nd. Gotta be careful wheelying such monstrous bikes though cos the weight is much harder to control & keep straight. Getting onto the 954 in comparison it is ridiculously easier to wheelie and you don't need any clutch in 1st, or 2nd on hill crests. Speak to M1CRO about wheelying the Busa, not sure if he uses clutch or not but he gets it up there!

I get the bird up quite easy in first without the clutch.But yeah,you are right. It is heavy and is difficult to put it down easy..
