    i reckon

i reckon every night at speedway they should assign a deap heat gang to go doorknocking, on any negative comment towards the speedway the occupant should be held down and broomsticked and deep heated in ther starfish !!

I race methanol / nitro powered rc boats, recently we have had a 87 db limit set by the council cause of one fuckwit resident... people have been racing these boats there for about 20 years, but its fucked when one person can wreck something for a large group at the springs its prolly a lot more but would be interesting to know what % of the residents support the springs ??

I'm with Matty C all the way on this. Political correctness is ruining this country; before long we will all be kept wrapped in cotton wool and driving Volvos that have been speed-limited to 20Km/hr (and painted beige, so as not to offend anyone with an inappropriate colour)

I'm afraid I don't see any political correctness in any of it. What I do see, is a bunch of selfish wannabees who see a chance to make a good slice of extra dosh out of their properties if they can get all noisy activities banned from the Springs.
    Speed doesn't kill people.

    lou's right.
i used to live in Tuarangi road (just up the hill from the springs) and it's the sound of summer weekends in that area, the same as sitting on your back lawn listening to the concerts there.
it's gentrification of the city fringe suburbs by wankers who buy for the "inner city vibe" then can't live with it.
back to the mall that spawned you, i say.

We have given too much power to the people - Consumer Rights and the Small Claims Courts have given the small minority the ability to sue the arse off anyone, regardless if they are right or wrong. The legacy of Labour putting in policies for the common people will be a welfare system where a small percentage of the population sucked the country dry,and a legal system that allows braindead dead nobodies to take anyone to task over imagined slights - and WIN!

By the way my SUV has a tow bar.
Is that what that pain was.
I thought it was piles for a moment there.

    They are not lefties

The people I saw at the public meeting I attended who were anti speedway did not look a bit left or green. They look a lot more like National or Act voters who like money, don't understand why poor people don't get some and care solely for themselves. Property prices are there main aim.
Also it has nothing to do with being PC, how does complaining about noise translate to being politically correct.
They are just selfish and well organised sounds more like facists really.

I'm a left wing socialist do-gooder who supports the Speedway. I think the group you are targeting are the ex-radical-left, central-right-neo-libertarian-capitalist-bourgeoisie pseudo-environmentalists who are systematically referred to as NIMBYs...

Frankly I support the speedway. I disagree with the flaunting of noise regulations - inherently it is cheating in this sport - same as in Bike Racing (but a bean can over a muffler to deaden it, then remove it to get the horsepower back). When we used to live in Grey Lynn, we could hear the concerts more than the speedway.... It's all a conspiracy I tell ya!

Yes, the nimby's are just about as dangerous as the lefties. They're just a little more confused. Still, nothing wrong with a bit of capitalism. It pays for all this stuff.

    Long live the speedway!

I used to live on Gt South Rd just down from the Pt Chev shops. When the speedway ran, we could hear it. Funnily enough, when ever there was a concert (Bee Gee's, Robbie Williams, etc) we could hear that too - just as loud.

Has anyone heard of the landowners around the springs asking for the concerts to be shut down too? Last I heard, they were all out on their balconies trying to get a view of the action. Hell, didnt Robbie Williams organise for pizza to be delivered to some of the properties surrounding the park in order to take the piss out of all the hangers-on trying to get a free view of him in action?

This is the same residents association complaining about the Swans (which don't make any freaking noise) in Western Springs, and smell from the zoo.

My Great-Grandfather, and my Grandfather used to race solos there be, prior to WWII. It's nearly 80 years old, and it used to be family entertainment. People bought houses nearby so they could walk to the racing.

The residents don't have an argument.
If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?
