    How good are 2005 KR150s??

    hey peoples

my friend has offered me one of these

    http://www.bikepics.com/pictures/322846/

it looks very cool (go kawasaki) and seems to go alright....

when i test rode it, it seemed slower than a rg150 but when i got back he said its because the battery is flat and the power valves arent opening up.
    Is this tru??

i love the look of it and its coming at the right price ($2000 he is moving to india) but i dont think it will be very compeditive in street stock which i may use if i cant get the cbr finished in time

    thanks heaps

    Glenn

    Nice looking machine !!

The only thing I've heard about KR150's is that some don't run a thermostat due to the warm climate they were designed for therefore, can risk a cold seizure of not warmed up properly. Apparently, blanking off some of the radiator can make the operating temperature more realistic.

I don't know how accurate that info is, so don't hold me to it !!

I reckon $2000 is a good deal, considering 2000-2001 model KR150s go for 3000 in dealers. Looks great too

I have a 2001 KR150 which I paid $2000 for at a dealers it had 20 000ks on the clock. I love my bike, they go really well and mine will sit happily at 140 on he straights (not in top gear either) though im sure your not planning on speeding..... KR's are great you just have to keep the revs up or they start to bog down a bit.
I think that you'd be getting a good deal at that price especially since its a 2005 model.

Your mate is full of shit about the power valves. The charging system should have the power to run them, it could be a different problem as it should be very similar power wise to an RG, they're a good bike tho.

Hey Str8jacket, you are aware that the KR 150 has the most wildly optimistic speedo that has ever been fitted to a motorbike?? My mate calibrated his against his GPS. an indicated 140 is more like 110 & it gets worse as you go faster.

    Cheers

Sounds like an FXR speedo. I have no idea how fast I'm going most of the time cause I know the speedos telling me bullshit

phoenix...... when you read the speedo on your FXR you need to minus 10% of what it is telling you to know you your actuall speed eg: 110kph = 100kph
mine had the same prob..... that is till i chopped it off

Yeah, I noticed I have the same problem on the RG. I was going 60 according to the speedo and I had a cop right up my arse (the one that stopped by the side of the road, waited for me to go past then started following me). How can I fix it?

you would have to get the speedo re-geared on yours as it is a cable?? (im pretty sure) it would be easier to learn to read it differently like 10% less or what ever the difference is

Once I sort out the flat spot in power. It's hideously slow in comparison to the CBR. Maxed out at 140 (according to the speedo of course )

When the weather is good, I was going to get my Dad in the car to go at the speed limit and I'd follow behind to see what the speedo says
