The new Honda Thou is in town guys.....

Sitting at the top of the Takas yesterday, and up rolls a couple of bikes - we give them a look-see - ah yeah, two Hondas, a 1300 naked and a black CBR600RR. the guys hop off, come into the cafe, grab a drink then come out onto the deck and sit with us. Chat for a short time and I say "which one of you is on the 600?" (thinking it was one that used to belong to a mate).

Well - turns out these guys are from Blue Wing, and the black one is NOT a 600, it's the new 1000. Obligatory dash to go and have a close inspection!! A very nice bike, tiny as. They have two in the country at the moment, they will be having a display at the Britten race meeting on 12/13//14 March, and also at Taupo at the race meeting 20/21 March. (and most likely at Manfeild 27/28 I would expect, though they didn't tell us that.)

The guys had swapped bikes along the way (they'd ridden down from Auckland via Vinegar Hill) and both said it had awesome power. Yeah, I know that they have to say that, but we spent a lot of time chatting to them and they certainly weren't at all derogatory about other bikes in the litre-league.

One very very smart looking bike. And very smartly priced......$20,995

Matthewt: note that Bugsplat spent a very long time looking at it......I sense there could be a move (or at least very very serious consideration thereof) from the Yamaha camp.....

But would be buy it as a 2nd bike or replace the r1 completely. The R1 might end up becoming the "touring" bike

... and Matt Mladin beat them at Daytona and you'll have bad dreams tonight because Ben ran into trouble while Zemke and DuHamel came in behind Matt.

Hey Linda, did the Blue Wing guys say anything about a redesigned VTR1000 next year? Barry at Sawyers heard a rumour....

Its enough to give a piggy bank an uneasy feeling about his long term future.
