Rear shock for a Bandit

Anybody have any ideas on what the best value rear shock you can buy that suits a K1 Bandit 1200, Ohlins are good,and expensive any others??

If you want a budget option, a GSX 1100 R shock from a wrecker is an option.
I got one for my last bandit.It raised the rear 25mm and quickened the steering.
$250 and can be rebuilt by Craig at Colemans for $150 to $200 if needed.
I sold it to Roogazza,PM him to see what he thinks

I'd give Djebbe Bruin a yell --IMHO cheap is relative.
Id get a rebuilt Ohlins unit or maybee a white power.
Yea a second hand ones gonna set ya back $600 or so but the difference is phenominal.
What I found was --Yes a rebuilt shock was a huge improvement over factory but after 4 laps the factory shock started to heat up and loose damping -Whereas the Ohlins just keeps on keeping on.

That said its really dependant on the state of the shock in your bike and the kind of riding you intend to do -If your shock is knackered and all ya do is a bit of mid speet cruising a simple shock swap might do the trick

Don't overlook the Maxton. They seem to have a good name in the UK. They like you to visit the factory to make sure that what you are paying for is exactly what you need, but you may have to pass on that.

Guess it depends on how much you want to spend Rocketman. But what i got from Pixie is bloody brilliant. It transforms the bandit in all areas and the extra 25 mm ground clearance is a big bonus. The rear wheel touches the ground when on the mainstand but that can be remedied with a bit of wood. Do it, you won't be disappointed. G.

If you can stretch to Ohlins, even a rebuilt one, it's worth every cent. Robert Taylor at Hawera Motorcycles is really good to deal with and sets it up spot on for road riding. But only get the hydraulic preload adjuster if you do a lot of pillion carrying.
And think about a set of Traxxion fork springs too, they compliment the shock very well and you'll avoid the "rear end is great, shame about the forks" syndrome.

PS a Pixie is a KB'er.

i just fitted an Ohlins to my GSXR and its awesome, if your worried about price have a chat to the guys at F1 engineering in hamilton. they are an Ohlins dealer and can give a sharper price than others
