    Turning Right

So I'm turning into a street a couple months back. and as I do I realise, wait a second.... there could be someone being a wank and trying to overtake me and we would have a serious crash.

now. as a 'wank' that does stuff like that myself I would feel pretty gutted about such a situation (if not seriously injured)

from then on I check my mirrors before turning into a sideroad from then on, do you? what im getting at is, we all are bikers and biker have a stereotype of being dangerous hoones, do you look out for people being stupid or do ya just drive ingnorant and know that if there was a crash your insurance would kick the living ***** out of the person that was at fault.

ps. who else here writes 'crashe' instinctivly now and has to delete that 'e'
I only posted this because of the global economic crisis

Yeah I do check, just incase. One time I changed lanes to turn and a wanker in a slow crappy subaru tried to race me with a large runup (hence high incoming speed) or something like that. Anyway he ended up getting the signal while I stayed in my lane...

Always ride defensively, to what degree kinda depends on my mood.

It doesn't matter how right you are, even 100%, you would still be the one sitting in hospital while the other party is flatly denying seeing you...

I try to always check my mirrors, even when waiting for a car to pull up behind, just in case they aren't paying attention. At the least, normally have the brakes on until the car has stopped.

As much as we would like to think we are, we arn't always the fastest on the road.

ALLWAYS do the "Life Saver" check over your shoulder before you move over, left or right.

I nearly managed to take out a plonker on a 636 the other day cos he hadn't seen my indicator and passed too bloody close on my left at about 150kph....

Those arseholes who shoot up the inside just as you go to pull in after passing someone piss me off.I like to give the vehicle I just passed the 2 sec gap before I pull back in front, and indicate when I do,but you have to check your mirror first.....and bikes are very guilty of this one.

Probably me. Bright green early model one?

Assume everyone else is trying to kill ya. Not that you'd believe I pay much attention to that mantra if you saw me in traffic, but I can assure you I do.

I remember reading a write up im a magazine about a Motorcycle safety course. The instructor was quoted as saying "I don't give a rip if he didn't see you, if you saw him the accident could be avoided".

With the echoes of my old man teaching me to drive explaining ""everyone is out there to kill you" I am probably more cautious than most.

    Check everything all the time.

Check when you're turning left too - I had someone undertake me when I was indicating to turn left. Lucky as hell I saw something in my mirror before turning in. That little episode gave me the shakes for the rest of the day.

if it was you then consider your self slapped on the arse with a cheese grater... I know it is almost immaterial but wearing jeans at that speed is a no no!!

    Are you serious???

The best advice I was ever given:

Treat everyone else on the road as if they are a mentally retarded potato with homicidal tendencies. You'll only ever be pleasantly surprised when they DO indicate, when they ARE courteous, when they DO give way when they should.

Im at the point now where i try and predict what people are going to do, ive found the most dangerous people on the road these days are the least observant - not the 'hoons'
