I'm starting to feel that way too....... at least the old KB'ers still organise their rides.

I guess you were busy with stuff, you should have come with us yesterday. We had a PERFECT day. Had the fellas out front maxing out their 1100cc bikes but still even slow fellas like me felt included.

Sorry Yosh, we're gonna disagree on this one too.

If you're gonna have open invite rides, you're gonna get all styles of riders. I wasn't there but I think I know exactly who the two riders you speak of are.

Both show outstanding levels of bike control and personally, I'd have no problem riding with either of them.

Unless it's someone else. Then I'm just talking shit again.

3 crashes in one ride !! How do you guy's manage so many off's ? I suppose that's what you get when you have so many people riding together , Have you group leader's thought of spilting the group up into Skill & speed pack's . Fast of first / medium second / slow last . As well as keep the group's smaller as well ??

yeah - the fast guys could go first, and paint warnings on the road - gravel, tight corner, potholes - that sort of thing. then the medium guys could come through, complain about the corners and gravel and potholes that were missed by the fast guys, then the slow guys could come through, with a van and trailer bringing up the rear. sounds like a fan fucking tastic idea.

Ambition and ability can be confused sometimes, theres little that can be done to stop the over zealousness other than experience i reckon. Just a case of everyone heeding the old phrase... 'Ride at your own pace'.

    It wasn't 3

i think it sounds like people need to speak up more , when rides happen round here we are all pretty up front before hand about what kind of riding we like to do ( hard in a real large group , i know) and if somebody unertook me , i'd have Quite a bit to say at the next stop

Still down to the group leader to put his Fucken foot down & make his point heard . Ya want to ride like a Fuck Whit then go Now !! other wise ride to the safety of the rest of the group you are with .

    Skills on checking the mirrors!!

On rides shit happens. judgement error on that senior KB rider part? We are only human.

Never been on a KB group ride, and some of the negative posts here aren’t doing much in the encouragement stakes.

When riding with my mates and someone does something wrong we bin them out next possible chance (next time we stop) . More often and not it’s due to drop in concentration and/or communication. We all learn and move on, if someone continues to put us in danger they never get another invite on a ride.

Stipulate the rules for your ride before you ride, have basic signals for passing, and rider positioning in the group. Some of you guys have been doing these rides long enough to know how you ride quickly and safely. How about posting what makes these rides work, and set them as standard KB rule.

Mabe I'll even tag along on one of these rides one day....

I'm choosy who I ride with too, but not to the detriment of meeting new riders. I think a lot of KBers miss out on a side of KiwiBiker that is most important - meeting & riding with other members, new and old, face to face!

Too many of you's have a clouded reality of what KB is about, hence the vicious rumors that are spreading out there about KB rides being dangerous and frequented by road racing maniacs - rubbish! These talebearers have no idea what they're talking about cos they aren't participating in the rides like some of us are regularly. Come to think of it, I know of no KBers who ride most weekends on KB rides who have this mindset about KB rides being bad.

I was at my work Christmas function several weeks ago and met the husband of a woman I work with, he is also into bikes and rides heaps, and he told me to my face that "KB rides are dangerous". Now he's not a KBer, but he says he's been on a couple of KB rides and they turned to custard in his opinion. I didn't argue his point but I did defend KB rides. I was rather taken back by this stranger, non-KBer saying such things!

ALL Motorcycle rides are dangerous! Not just KB rides, although I'm still a noob at these, but I have been on countless Poker Runs and rallies and there are sometimes casualties. Fact of life! IMHO the KB rides have been far less dangerous because there are smaller numbers and I haven't seen any hogs.Yet.

If everyone remembers to keep to their own pace and try not to be a hero, then everyone will have fun. Isn't that what it's all about?
