Same! Thats why I didnt sit with you at lunch

But seriously, we had a great day on Saturday... Invariably, you find the "group" splits up anyway and after all its the social factor that counts as well

BTW Zed, thanks for Sat... Can you tell I enjoyed myself
It's been a rough day. I got up this morning, put on a shirt and a button fell off.
As I ran out the door, I picked up my briefcase, and the handle came off.
Now I'm afraid to go to the bathroom.

Exactly .... I have been on a few KB rides and they were fine (imho) .. sometimes the basic's can be forgotten in the moment... not indicating ( i have done it myself) when passing... following way to close...and sometimes the passing speeds are high,i would hate to see someone get collected from behind by someone else going a 100 kph faster due to the power differences , imo the onus is on the following rider to look out for the guy in front and so on.... after all the road rules apply to all vehicles, there isn't a special set for bikes. ..and it really is about having fun but not at someones elses expense.Perhaps that is what is special about motorcyclists,as a rule they do look out for each other.

Of course being so called fast does not go hand in hand with being a good rider, there will always be the bunnies who think they have something to prove, unfortunately quite often what they prove it not what they expected.

As a newbie to KB rides and Newbie back riding after a 30 year absence I have found the rides very enjoyable and the people bloody friendly.
I will only say that in my opinion some riders appear to go to fast for their experience and ability. Young guys relatively new to riding/bikes believing they can go as fast as those more experienced riders.
I think maybe a bit more talking and control by the organisers of these events would go a long way to helping this wee problem.
The Coro loop is a terrific asset for bikers but it is also bloody dangerous to the uninitiated and the newbie.
I grew up on these roads, my family has lived on the peninsular since 1864 and still lives there, I have seen a lot of people killed and injured over the years, several biker friends killed years ago on the coast rode.

On my 1st ride with KBs several weeks ago I spoke to a young guy from Tauranga and warned him not to try and keep up with the "Big boys" as the roads are very dangerous if you do not know them........lets face it, they are bloody dangerous even if you do, and if you go fast it just compounds.
The point is I shouldn't have had to tell him, I am a newbie! the organiser should have spoken to all of the new persons and warned them of the type of road they would be riding on and what to watch for, etiquette etc.

Or is this getting to official and sounding like an OSH site!!! heaven forbid.

Ok finished with the nana ravings, have a good night and enjoy the photo's.

Not really, what you say is quite sound advice, but we aren't going to make a hard and fast rule on KB that all ride organisers adhere to certain rules either, you can't enforce that sort of stuff. Part of the beauty of KB rides is the liberty we all have to do our own thing if we want Notwithstanding, irresponsible riding IS frowned upon!

As someone who has organised a number of KB rides during my time here, I assess on the day who turns up and usually mention the route, some basics about stopping at major intersections, assign a tail-end charlie, and tell everyone to have a good safe time. There have been certain rides where I have told everyone to ride at their own pace and for NO ONE to have any bins! This procedure has generally been successful.

I don't think age can be applied in general, there are plenty of younger riders that i have seen that show skills ( forethought and common courtesy ) well beyond the time they have been in the saddle, riding is not just about the physical,it can also be about knowing whats going on around you and applying that to the conditions..as in group verses solo etc .(imho)..I know people who have been riding for decades but are the most inconsiderate SOB's you could meet regarding common sense, they are oblivious to those around them and become a menace.

Who cares how fast or skillfull a rider you are...you're just being impatient and dangerous to undertake another biker.

Put your own life in danger and overtake on the other side of the road before you put someone else's at risk.

I'd crack you round the chops if you carve me up like that. Just plain arrogant.

Not to shit stir here but could I suggest that rather than a public rant about this it would be better to send the member concerned a PM.
My point being nobodys perfect -Even "the Doctor" makes mistakes

A little credit would be good here Frosty....I did PM this member, outline the purpose of the thread and impact his actions had on me......and he hasn't bothered to respond.

As i stated initially: THIS IS NOT A PERSONAL ATTACK, if it was, I woulda mentioned the guy's name!!!! The purpose of this thread is to DRAW ATTENTION TO DANGEROUS BEHAVIOURS taking place, and make people take responsibility for, and think about the impact of their thoughtless actions on others!

i don't have issues with fast riders. i have issues with dangerous and thoughtless manouevers - which clearly have potentially fatal/severe consequences ......get my point?

and yes Bulldog, he woulda got a handbag round the chops if i'd caught up with him....
Jim-bob the mechanic, Greymouth: That tyre's fkd..it wouldn't even make it to CHCH!

MV: "phew, just as well we're not goin to CHCH, then...we're off to AKL!!

Fair enough generally, Frosty, ever the dispenser of the milk of human kindness, but one chance mate. It's a c*** act.
