I can't believe you were a professional driver. Take a look at the Panmure or Royal Oak roundabouts and then tell me that X intersection rules will work.
All this smacks of justifying why people are too lazy to drive properly.

*NOTHING* will work on the Panmure roundabout. I emailed the guy who drew up the new rondabout rules. He admitted he lived in Christchurch and had no experience of roundabouts aother than the 4 way 90 degree types. But said he'd "be happy to takeon comments about more complicated roundabouts."

One of the reasons behind the LTNZ-inspired CBTA license programme was to get unlicensed bikers licensed. Apparently there are "heaps" (rounded to the nearest whole integer) of unlicensed bikers.
