    Helmets are a burden, obviously!

I agree with the sentiment behind the threads about people riding around in shorts and teeshirts, no matter how hot it is, but I saw something today that went one better. A guy was riding along Queen Street in Levin on a nice shiny road bike, when all of a sudden he removed his helmet, stuck it on the tank and proceeded to run his fingers through his hair! WTF?!!! Mmn, isn't a helmet the ONE piece of safety equipment you MUST wear on a bike? I was SO hoping he would hit a pothole and find out why helmets are compulsory - what a dickhead! He obviously didn't even have it done up while riding, if he could just take it off so easily.

And on the other topic, I saw this really fat chick on an RF900 today, riding along in jeans, sneakers and a sleeveless top. Apart from the fact she looked hideous (the bum up, head down position was not doing her any favours!), I figured if she came off, there would be plenty of spare skin to use for skin grafts!
Yes, I am pedantic about spelling and grammar so get used to it!

So, if you wanted to be cruel, you could say her arse matched the bikes.

    Arrow I dunno.

I'm not into telling all and sundry about the dumbarses that ride without the gear as we all can see for ourselves. Yea that turkey was asking for a ticket or worse should he get hit. I'm just not going to get all anal retentive over it. Ive been known to ride without my riding pants from time to time and now that Ive got a TT350, I suspect that I need some draggin jeans.
Those who insist on perfect safety, don't have the balls to live in the real world.

Whatever people want to wear when riding may be their own personal choice, but it's a bit like the insurance company refusing to pay out on a burglary if you go out and leave the doors wide open. Fall off a bike at ANY speed (there have been many posts about accidents at less than 50kph where significant amounts of skin have been removed and bones broken) and you don't deserve ANY sympathy if you didn't make any effort to protect yourself. We all end up paying for it in higher ACC levies and people go on about how dangerous motorcycles are. Well, so are lighters in the hands of those who are too stupid to use them!

Forgot to comment on the dickhead running his fingers through his hair! WTF is right!!! I wonder if he practiced the move in the mirror...must be thinking he's on a hair care ad or something??
What a dickhead. Although having a shaven head I'm probably just jealous...

    Crikey (crikey!)
You obviously haven't heard the racket a bike makes when you ride it with no helmet on. What an unholy din all those mechanical bits make, thrashing around!

Yup, these people are out there.
Hopefully he has removed himself from the gene pool without costing us more in insurance and ACC premiums........
