they all have cameras though!? probally dont have tapes in them to save some coin.

I see that one of the CC companies fraud investigation unit is based in Australia, how handy is that. Mate had his new CC stolen out of the letter box and 3 grand put on it in a day, and the bought gas which would suggest they have a rego on tape, but the company in aus aint going to see that are they,

Yep I use it if I can. Also, if I need to fill up, I'll try to go to a mobil or pak 'n save nearby, if there is one. Normally plenty of mobil in the areas I frequent.

Never had many problems with locked pumps, suspected it once (just pushed the bike to the next pump, and it wasn't locked), and once computers were down.

Other than that, with 1-2 people at each "service" station, what do you expect, don't think I have had a single person come out of the big ones.

The local is better (a shell), the guy came out, chatted, was going to fill the bike (took a couple of attempts to get him to desist)

yeah, I love eftpos, I have no idea why the other companies don't do it.

Interesting hearing how other people get on with petrol.

I didn't realise that there could be so many problems.

I just fill, even when it says prepay. Never had to toot my horn. Or anything else.

Just walk in with all my gear on, including helmet. I wear a flip-face so I have that up. A smile works wonders.

And I do not have a "local". Just use what ever is convenient at the time.

I would never fill my bike while I sat on it. But then also I never use my cell phone while there either. Also don't smoke.

Yeah but you don't have to go inside or nominate an amount.

I know... I was saying it as a positive thing... ie. we shouldn't need to prepay if we're using eftpos at pump

Hey Guys, just thought i would give you a heads up about pay at pump especially at Mobils (not sure about others), if you use a credit card, it automatically authorises $100 of your available credit, even if your purchase is only $10... and that takes 5 working days to drop off, so if you have a low-ish credit limit, you may find yourself declined somewhere else even though you know the credit should be there..... lovely trick played by gas stations to help with "drive-offs" apparently.. i work for a bank so am forever deleting authorisations for mobil customers so they can continue purchasing with their credit card... just my 2c worth...Nic

Good stuff Mobil Silverstream, Hutt Valley.
I've had a 100 percent eftpos pump success rate so far.
I use them whenever I'm nearby.

Thanks for that Nicksta, wondered what was going on there.
Since I have had the bike I've never had to prepay, just get the attention of attendant and he unlocks the pump otherwise I find another station.

I love eftpos at pump, use it whenever available, although I've been tending to go as far as I can per tank, sometimes been nearly caught out, although the reserve is easy on my new bike. Still getting used to the little tank.

Maybe I need to find a local and fill up every 2 or 3 days.???

Eftpos at pump is fine. If I have to go inside to pay then the lid stays on. I do try to park with rego plate facing the shop so that the cameras can see it, and I always have the wallet out and ready to pay. If they do not like that and want me to remove the lid, then I make the enqiury about if they do the same with our burkah wearing colleagues...

amazing the number of people who use their cell phones while filling. and that includes staff....i have heard there are a couple who stand there txting. heck, mine barely leaves my bag when im at work. when at pak n save i used to tap the offender and then tap the sign. same goes for under 15 year olds filling...also not allowed. when it came to the bikers and sitting, id leave em to it, even though i dont do it myself.

What happens if you just want to fill the tank up?

Then you give a figure above what you would expect to pay for a full tank.

The problem here, is that people don't trust the servo to return the excess money, how long it would take to return it, and so on.
