Here's that video I promised - in case I don't get to meet you on my visit...

Wanted you guys/gals to see what our roads looked like. I tried to give a sampling...

Sorry if some of the labels are wrong, I am not sure I got all the roads right.

Thanks for that Jon, I would love to catch up for a beer while you're in town, let us all know when you want to go to the pub in Takapuna and I will be there for sure. I might even make it out for a ride... if I can get a day pass! lol

Looks like your roads are very similar to ours ... just we ride on the other side of the road. Same sort of hazards (cattle etc..) and the same naughty overtaking moves...

My experience driving rentals in the US is it's no problem staying on the correct side as long as you have someone to follow. However, you have to think twice when turning into an intersection esp. if there is no-one to follow.

Keen to catch you on the Coro loop ride.

    |Don't need to post ME the video, got lost quite happily in S.F. area last November, saw the bridges and drove over half of them during rush hour, saw the windmills and eventually got out to Napa where we stayed the night.
Only had one close call and nearly crashed on the way to the Golden gate.
Nice scenery but a tad too busy and hectic for this redneck country boy, Napa was O.K. though..

    Hi all,

Am staying in Takapuna and my hosts have been showing us a great time. We had an event at the hotel tonight where Maori Warriors demonstrated a bunch of things, including the Haka. Fantastic.

New Zealanders are the friendliest people on the planet. Full stop.

So we are still planning a practice tomorrow at 11:00 AM at Vellenoweth Green, at St Helliers Bay, Auckland. See http://segwayhtpolo.com/ for a map. After the game, we are going to the Sky Tower and then on a boat to an island(?) winery. Going to be a great day, again.

Oh yeah, I have two other friends that want to join us for the Corro Loop ride next Saturday (a week from this Saturday) - see the calendar for details...

    That's my update!

Lastly, Flat White coffee is delicious.

First the word is spelt MAORI.

Now we have that out the way I found after travellling through about 15 States in the US in Oct/NOv last year that the old down home small-town Yank is just as helpful and friendly as any Kiwi you ever met.

But thanks for the compliment to NZers!!

Thanks for the correction - Maori fixed above.

Ok, thanks back at you for YOUR compliment. I think people around the world are generally kind, but the hospitality I've felt so far here in NZ is truly awe inspiring.

Aye usually pronounced 'eye' North Island interpretation of spelling of 'eh'

Eh usually pronounced 'ay' = proper pronounciation.
