Exactly....... and personally i would rather ride with people who can make a decision based on the circumstances (which are as per usual totally unknown in this case)....... people who have to get fully kitted up to ride down to the shop scare me,even if it is their porogotive.

I was going to post a pic from some years ago, but no helmet, shorts, jandals, and no back brake on a wheelying H2 might be to much for the high and mighty ..at least the headlight was on..safety and all that...

    I do!
Half the reason the ACC levies hit motorcyclists so hard is due to complicated and extensive motorcycle injuries. Guys like this wiping out in his T-Shirt isn't helping our pockets. It's also just plain annoying how ignorant people can be.
I hate to see these guys learn the hard way!

your right mate; people learn the hard way but it gets a bit menotenous(sp?) people harpin on about gear all the time. if you guys truely feel so passionate about it Lobby the government but dont shout in my ear

I have also learened the hard way about the lack of safety gear. it pisses me off to see dumb people to see lack of gear as shown in that picture. there loss if they crash. it's their problem if they get hurt.

Well said MA! Bling awarded. Some of the anti-gear nazis around here have probably contributed to the excessive amounts we all have to pay for rego/ACC fees.
Perhaps the comment about lobbying government goes both ways? See how far they would get trying to have crash helmets, safety gear, etc made optional!

Do i then say anyone who is not wearing this amount of protection is a plonker ????..of course not... Reality check,if i get hit by a car,or plow into something solid i am going to get hurt,no ifs, buts or maybe's..the above gear may help but it will not guarantee my survival, there are no guarantee's in life, especially with motorcycles..Motorcycling is not about being bubble wrapped,it is about instinct and and a inbuilt self preservation,.... Do you deal with the cause or the symptom?... Protection going with the symptom, skills going with the cause,no amount of protection will increase a basic skill...Wear gear, get skills... i will continue to go down to the shops for a bottle of milk wearing work boots, jeans and a T shirt and a helmet, that is my decision based on my belief that i can safely ride around the block if i use common sense.
