Exactly....... and personally i would rather ride with people who can make a decision based on the circumstances (which are as per usual totally unknown in this case)....... people who have to get fully kitted up to ride down to the shop scare me,even if it is their porogotive.Originally Posted by **R1**

I was going to post a pic from some years ago, but no helmet, shorts, jandals, and no back brake on a wheelying H2 might be to much for the high and mighty..at least the headlight was on..safety and all that...

Diito to that you guys.-- just get out and ride and get over it.
I also agree with R1. We are responsible for ourselves only. Not much point worrying about it, they might learn the hard way. Wont be the first and sure wont be the last...Originally Posted by Sniper

Exactly what I noticed in under two seconds! Why do they do it? They're not only idiots but they look like it too!Originally Posted by Badcat

I hate to see these guys learn the hard way!
your right mate; people learn the hard way but it gets a bit menotenous(sp?) people harpin on about gear all the time.Originally Posted by onearmedbandit

and yesterday my best mate crashed in the street next to that for both of us less than 50 metres from home....while you always wear gear...my mate slid out in the rain and now has a knee the size of a grapefruit
no gloves just a helmet shirts and a t shirt... oooo to be 16 and bulletproof
i have gloves a helmet and a leather jacket but the jacket has no padding people give me shit about it and say ill fuck myself decently if i bail....which i learnt last time at least the jacket saved my skin
i really want to get some gear spend all my money buying new bikes all the time...ive bought 5 in the last 6 months lol 3 of them 2005 mini bikes a tzr and a stuffed gn lol
so yeah im getting some gear asap pisses me off im that lazy to not finish getting some damn gear![]()
I have also learened the hard way about the lack of safety gear. it pisses me off to see dumb people to see lack of gear as shown in that picture. there loss if they crash. it's their problem if they get hurt.

Well said MA! Bling awarded. Some of the anti-gear nazis around here have probably contributed to the excessive amounts we all have to pay for rego/ACC fees.Originally Posted by markauckland
Perhaps the comment about lobbying government goes both ways? See how far they would get trying to have crash helmets, safety gear, etc made optional!

Mark..anything is better than nothing..when i started there was no such thing as body armour etc that i remember...Safety gear is based on ones own personal perception,I have a Arai helmet, fully armoured suit (shin/knee's/hips/forearms and elbow's and back protector),fancy boots and gloves..cost over $3000Originally Posted by markauckland
.. Do i then say anyone who is not wearing this amount of protection is a plonker ????..of course not... Reality check,if i get hit by a car,or plow into something solid i am going to get hurt,no ifs, buts or maybe's..the above gear may help but it will not guarantee my survival, there are no guarantee's in life, especially with motorcycles..Motorcycling is not about being bubble wrapped,it is about instinct and and a inbuilt self preservation,.... Do you deal with the cause or the symptom?... Protection going with the symptom, skills going with the cause,no amount of protection will increase a basic skill...Wear gear, get skills... i will continue to go down to the shops for a bottle of milk wearing work boots, jeans and a T shirt and a helmet, that is my decision based on my belief that i can safely ride around the block if i use common sense.

yes you are confident in your riding im confident in mine too id wear jeans and a t as well but theres too many other idiots on the road out to kill you
lol burt munro was clever but i don't think he was sane as that pic shows.......basically naked...on salt you would be nothing but a long trail of mush if you fell off at that speed on salt
Thats Rollie Free on a Vincent Black Lightning... You automatically presume he will fall, that is the point i am trying to make....instinct is your savior long before a padded jacket.Originally Posted by markauckland
