I think Coleman's has one... a older model. Contact SARGE.
Red Baron also, usually has one in stock.
Im not sure if Mt Eden has any there at the moment.
There was a older model over the shore at the bike shops there recently....

Heading to Auckland isn't an option at all for me at the moment. But will keep that in mind.

    Thanks crashe.

Get yourself a Kawasaki EL250 Eliminator. One of these will whump all of the other 250cc "cruisers". Great fuel economy too. And durable if you want to slide it down the road.

GZ's are as people have said are the same motor as the GN. I have ridden a GN and they are just a small budget, beginners bike. get the Virago they are much nice bikes.

according to those the gz comes a close second in this market to the virago, so if you can't get a virago, i'm sure you'd be more than happy with the gz

I reckon Yamaha should start paying Ms Crashe a commission on Virago 250 sales.

the GZ isnt that a bad a bike. Ive ridden one a couple times, plenty of grunt and it can actually lane split (if your a bit of a stupid fuck like me) if I remember right its also known as a marauder.

I think its got the gn250 engine in it but dont let that fool you, its actually a nice bike. if I were to purchase a 250 cruiser/non sports, it would probably be my first choice or perhaps an EL
I only posted this because of the global economic crisis

As I said to others "still just looking"

Plenty of time yet. first choice when down the gurgler, and any bike I have found on trademe is usually in the south island. Go figure.

The GN250 is cheap and cheerful (Taiwan built), and sells like hot cakes as beginner bikes. However, if you're under 5'4", there's no way you can get your feet safely on the ground.

The best option for shorter people is the cruiser-style machine. But they cost - most 250cc cruisers sell for around the $7000 mark when new, compared to $3000 for a GN250. And they keep their value too, getting fairly high prices when sold second-hand.

The GZ250 is a good little bike, but doesn't have the same grunt or charisma that the V-twin Virago has.

If you want feedback on the GZ250, send a PM to Roks in Christchurch, she recently bought one.

I've just bought a Virago 250 for Mrs V, and she's really happy with it. She's under 5' tall, and can flat-foot it comfortably.

The best option is to sit on as many bikes as you can. Don't just sit with your feet on the ground, get someone to hold the bike upright for you and put your feet on the pegs.

    Good luck with the search.

I'm approx 5'4" and couldn't even get my feet on the ground on the GN250 was suprising because they look so small, then again I have quite short legs. The GZ250, the guy in the shop held it up so that I could sit my feet on the pegs etc etc. Was all perfect. Am interested to have a look at a Virago, but I have not seen one up here, and Auckland is just to far away for me. Will keep an eye out on what pricing for an older Virago or GZ250 is. Quite keen. And thanks.
