Yeah...I think it's defiantly going to be a fairly sizable project.

I think if I do end up doing it I'll run two bikes, a commuter and the SF!

I like the "proper" streetfighter types but I think the turkeys who crash, can't afford the repairs then advertise the bike without its fairing as a "streetfighter" suck

thats a bit rich Motig, considering that some of those bikers who have the misfortune to crash & damage their fairings beyond repair:

    1) Can't afford OEM replacements as some are worth just as much as the value of the bike

    2) Can't source 2nd hand fairings coz fairings take 99% of the impact from prangs & usually rooted on wrecked bikes

    3) aftermarket fairings are either unavailable or discontinued models

and as for classing them as turkeys mmm think before you speak coz not all of them are at fault for causing the crash in the first place

The whole streetfightering scene started but people who crashed the jappers and couldnt afford the repairs. Its just developed from there.

I didnt like the idea or look of streetfighters either, but after buying one with the idea of resporting it, I took it for a ride and was hooked. They are a blast! Easier to play with, quick in traffic, and so user friendly. I had a standard GSXR750 and the same as a streetfighter, the streetfighter wasnt so good for trips but for shorter trips, it was the smurf.

Ride one before you bag one

so whats the REAL difference between a sportsbike and a street fighter? (apart from the head lights, which i must say usually look shit)
i always hated them until i when to the KB trackday and i saw the guy on the black street fighter (death?) and it looked amassing.......... because it was so simple and basic
Well what would you do? Run through the streets stark naked at 350 miles per hour with bells on your toes?

There are probably widely differing views on that.

Some manufacturers and/or magazines will refer to particular models as streetfighters eg Buell, Triumph Speed Triple, etc. At the websites created for or by people who ride them, though, I have seen the comment that if the bike is still standard it ain't a streetfighter.

hmmmm when i have the moolah i might do some small streetfighter mods to the bros but i think i'd rather stick carbon goodies on her like the new "streetfighter" headlights i have for her. the only problem with fitting these are hiding the fucken wiring that was stuck inside the stock headlight or hidden behind it love street fighters without pointy up tails tho

I got a small (ish) electrical box from Dick Smiths to hide the wiring in and mounted it under the clocks.
