Remarkably I've never been caught speeding more than 20kms over the legal limit, and that's in a car! Never had a speeding ticket on a motorcycle in 20yrs but have been done for lanesplitting on the motorway and passing another vehicle on an on-ramp to the motorway, and in that case I was riding a gixxer750 on a learners licence and the cop just said to "take it easy" on the way home, didn't even give me a fathers lecture!

    All baffles me really??

    Ticketed for 120 in a 100.
But was checked at 180 in a Cortina!
No ticket though 'cause we were all cops.
T'was funny as hell seeing the patrol car doors nearly fly off and the passenger do an arse over down the bank. The look on their faces when they recognised the mufti car was priceless.

There is something wrong with some of these posts - people are saying they got let off speeding tickets by the cops, I thought that NEVER happened?

I never speed and so never been caught speeding. I always seem to get stuck behind a cage or just enter a town (I don't speed in towns) when I see a cop appear.

They would just think you were cutting firewood anyway!!

Years ago I got let off a ticket in my cage for 121, was fantastic at the time.
I even know the cop who let me off, at some stage I will have to thank him

HAHA! it does happen strangely enough. But try being a ex-cops kid new on the road & having the old man hear about every indescretion that you try to keep quiet about or when i sat my restricted test the tester was my old mans shift partner prick made me do figure eights in a bloody shingle carparking area .

but better than being let off tickets, try sitting on 105 demerits for 6mths & never recieving any nice letters to hand my licence in even though prior to getting the last ticket i'd recieved the "we're watching you buddy behave yourself letter".

In the mid eighties when our street used to be quiet, partner & I decided to nip down to the shop on the bike....no helmets as it was ony 500m or so. Well who happened to be coming up the road.....Detective Senior Sargent....?? He threw the book at both of us. Partner got done for no helmet, carrying a pillion with no helmet, no WOF, bald tyre, no rego and wrong class of licence. Did me for being a pillion with no helmet but when I got the ticket in the mail it was for being a pillion NOT WEARING A SEATBELT!!

    eek

Done doing 147kms in a 100 zone in my cage, cop was pretty ok considering as I was overtaking a truck and trailor and wanted to get it done asap for safety's sakes. Oh yeah...a good well set up car,not a Northland wonder(how it goes) "car"
Also been done doing 97kms in a 50 zone on my old TL....yes I know but but but! Not you average 50 zone( no housing at all!) and it had a 2m wide strip down the middle. Just wanted to overtake a smoke bellowing truck and when ya ripped the twisty thing on that bike it only took a few secs and...well,yes. Reasons, not excuses
116kms in a 100 zone...Waipu straights. I mean come on! Was late at night and no one else on the road...lol apart from a bugger with a radar!
Needless to say I have slowed down a lot

As a kid riding a GPz5550 I was running a little late for work... zipping along between Inglewood and Stratford and there's a REALLY cool underpass on the way. They basically dug out the road and do an "S" to tale the road from the RHS to the LHS of the train track...

aaaaaaanyhoo - you get the line just right and keep the power on and you can skip through there at a reasonable pace...

The Inglewood (read SMALL TOWN COP) cop going the other way turned and chased, booked me for 130 "from his experience". He saw me in his mirror... going the other way.No other evidence.

On one hand I should have challenged (and gotten off) the ticket. On the other hand I remember thinking he was about right...

Those of you in The Naki will know the "S" bend I mean... YEE HA!
