CBR250RR tires.

Ok everyone need a bit of advice.

Think its time to get to get some new tires for my bike and wouldn’t have a clue about what to get etc.
The Back tire now is on the tire wear markers/indicators and the front it’s not too far behind.
I currently have:
Front: Dunlop 110/70R 17 M/C 54H K510A
Back: Dunlop 140/60R 17 M/C 63H K510B

I feel with the back tire and the tread pattern it has is crap (Could be wrong) in the wet it can loose traction easily and may have been half the reason for my last bin. If you want to know what im talking about see this pic. http://www.computecnetworks.no-ip.co.../CBR250RR1.jpg

What are your thoughts and recommendations for new ones?
I mostly use the bike for Commuting and am not the fast type who pushes the bike to its limits yet.
At this stage it looks like I may go to Botany Honda since they are the closet to me.

I'm running with a set of dunlop GPR80s, get about 8000km from rear, and they're really grippy, havent had any moments ith loss of traction (beware the white paintlines) .There is a stickier version The GPR70, but i do a lot of long trips so 80s have a wee bit more life, ask the fellows here they know a lot more about whats best on the wee cibbie http://www.cr-x.org/cbr250/forum/default.asp

called around a few shops, tell them what you mainly do on the bike (commute etc), and they'll be able to recommend the best tyre. They can also give you their best price too. Call a few shops and see who's gonna give you the best deal. A couple of minutes going thru the yellow pages, and you'll be set

i just bought a set of gpr70's

ace tyres but tyre life is a joke

i had a set of 80's previously and weren't a totally bad tyre just didnt suit my style of riding

. Bridgestone bd092's are supposed to be the equivelent of the 70's but with a bit longer life due to a bit harder compound.

best bet is to pop down to your bike shop and have a chat with them. and run through the catalogue.

but for long km's stay away from gpr70s

Mate you sound like you do similar riding like I did on my 250. I recommend Bridgestone BT45's for an all round tyre, they do the sport thing well, awesome in the wet and have a long life.
Directly compared these to the Pirelli Sport Demons which I had on before the bridgeys and while they are also a good tyre (which I wouldnt turn my nose up at if a good deal was offered), I'd go for the BT45's just because I think they gave a slightly better feel.

I've found the dragons to be best all year round - good wear tires on the 250, and the D207s to be average summer time tires.

I had Pirelli Diablos on my cibby and they were pretty bloody good.

I had GPR-70's on my ZXR - they're pretty good but not the best.

I've now got Continental Contiforce's on my CBR - dual compound, speed rated to 270ks and very grippy in the wet and dry

I paid bout $480 for a set, from Motohaus Tyres.

Two things.
a) What to consider in terms of quality. Performance comes at a price!
You pay extra to get it and you pay again sooner to repair or replace it!!!! What I am saying is a super sticky tyre will generally cost more AND not last as long. Motor performance is the same really. You pay twice for performance.

b) What are you prepared to pay?

I ran Diablos, they are good tyres. I was sliding a little bit but only when on edge of tyre, the sport demons were not as good but lasted a lot longer

I have been quoted $325 fitted and balanced for the Diablo’s demons, does this sound reasonable and a good choose. They have said I could get better tires but im going to be paying alot more for them.

Ask cycletreads for a quote too. I got the demons for $300 fitted a while ago (prices may have of course gone up, but who knows).
