    alert!!!

i was talking to a mate of mine who is a highway patrol officer, he said that all police have been instructed to reprogram their radars to go off at 105km/h instead of 110!!!!

so watch out, but if any KB policemen would care to comment and confirm or deny this it would help

Programme? we don't have no stinking programme!

(The operator is the one that makes the call, not the machine UNLESS your mate was meaning speed cameras?)

He may have meant , they have been instructed to issue a ticket at 105kmph. You dont programme the eagle etc to go of at any speed, it picks up all speeds and it is the responsibility of the tax generator as to weather he feels the need to issue a notice or not. Generally because the HP are a pack of Arseholes they opt to issue a ticket, why because they can.

The Whole campaign against speed is a absolute load of crap, here in the Waikato where we have one of the highest densities of traffic to HP ratios in New Zealand they have done nothing to reduce the road toll, in fact currently its double that of last year, so whats the point ?? Well I know as do most of you who arent IRD puppets
Ive run out of fucks to give

yes i am not stupid, i kno the guns arent actually programmed, but the ones in the vans and fixed ones are apparently gonna be givin tickets at 105. and cops will probably do that as well. and im also not sayin that its true, but i'm gonna have my detector (read: tax dodger) set up for any big trips

I heard that the 10k leeway was wiped plus they also ping you for going over 100k when passing on passing lanes.I hope its just a rumour or are they going to bring the road toll down by taking everyones licence off them so there won't be any bikes/ cars on the road? (that would work!

People have been getting tickets for exceeding 100kph on the passing lanes anyway and the 10kph thing is (a.t.m.) an urban myth.

the road code is stupid. if im stuck behind a truck going 90 and try to pass him by going 100, i will need the whole passing lane to do it, whereas if i speed up and pass him at 130 i'll be sweet. that goes doubly for where there are no passing lanes, cos i dont want to be right in the middle of passing a truck when someone else appears in the other lane...

is there nothing us kiwis (including cage drivers) can do to stop the government charging us road tax at every concievable opportunity??????

true. but i'd rather get out of trouble as quickly as possible than sit and wait for an age while passing someone only to find myself through the window of a car coming the other way

Interesting yet irrelevant point: in a head on collision between two cars going 100kph, the resultant speed adds up to a 200kph collision, but the force is spread evenly over both masses, therefore it is exactly the same as if one of the cars crashed into a huge concrete wall at 100kph. this is assuming, of course, that the wall would not take much of the impact.
